Chapter 7: Leo is Back

A plane was coming towards New York, about to land. The wheels came down, with Leo on one of them. He looked over the city he hadn't seen in a couple of years. He jumped off and glided over the ocean. He let his hang glider out and soared until after he stuck his hand into the water, got rid of the glider, and dove into the water. He swam his way to the lair and once there, he saw Mikey and Donnie asleep in front of the TV.

"Dude. Dude," Mikey mumbled.

Leo smiled at his brothers then approached his sensei's room to see him meditating.

"Enter. Kneel, my son," Splinter said without opening his eyes.

Leo obeyed and replied, "I returned from my training, Master. I was so caught up in my own world, I forgot about everyone else. I'm sorry I failed."

Splinter shushed him, opened a box with a medal in it, and responded, "On the contrary, my son, now you are much stronger."

He went around the table as Leo stood up. Meanwhile, Raph was listening outside the room while Leo received the medal.

"Your strength is needed here now. You owe me no apology, but perhaps you should talk to Raphael. Your absence has been particularly difficult for him, though he'll never admit it," Splinter explained.

"I'm certain things will be back to normal in no time, Master," Leo responded.

"Good. Because until you can act as one, you are forbidden to fight," Splinter replied.

"Yes, Sensei," Leo answered.

Jamie left Raph's room to find him outside Splinter's room. She approached him quietly.

"Raph, what are you doing?" she asked, yawning.

"Shh. Just come here. And get Skylar too," Raph commanded.

She nodded, got Skylar, and came back.

"I have missed you, Leonardo," Splinter said, hugging his son.

"I've missed you too, Father," Leo responded, returning the gesture.

"Raphael, your brother is home," Splinter replied, facing the entrance.

Raph stepped in, facing his older brother and father.

"Hey," Leo smiled warmly.

"Hey. Welcome home," Raph said like he was bored.

"Yeah. Thanks," Leo remarked.

"By the way, I made some new friends and I want you all to meet them," Raph mentioned.

He moved out of the way and Jamie and Skylar entered. Leo and Splinter were a little surprised at first but recovered.

"Hi, I'm Jamie and this is my little sister, Skylar. We promise that we won't tell anyone," Jamie waved.

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Jamie and Ms. Skylar. My name is Splinter," Splinter introduced, bowing his head, which Jamie returned.

"Same here. I'm Leonardo, but I go by Leo," Leo shook her hand.

"It's nice to meet y'all too," Jamie smiled.

"Yeah. What she said," Skylar added, waving.

"Well, I'm going to bed," Raph replied.

They headed out and Raph woke up Donnie and Mikey.

"Hey, Leo's back. Better go say hello before he leaves again. And I have some friends for y'all to meet," Raph explained harshly about Leo and a little better about Jamie and Skylar.

Jamie watched Raph as he went into his room and kept her face there as the brothers reunited.

"What? Leo!" Donnie exclaimed.

"Hey," Leo replied, giving Donnie a noogie.

"Hey," Donnie chuckled.

"Huh, Leo? Is that really you?" Mikey wondered after he jolted awake and fell off the couch.

"Yeah," Leo answered.

"I'm, like, dreaming, aren't I?" Mikey asked, hugging Leo tightly.

"No, Mikey, you're not dreaming," Leo responded.

"Oh, good. I have nightmares about birthday parties," Mikey explained.

"And who are they?" Donnie wondered.

"This is Jamie and her little sister, Skylar. They're friends of Raph," Leo introduced.

"Well, it's nice to meet you. I'm Donatello, but it's Donnie for short," Donnie introduced, shaking her hand.

"Sup. I'm Michelangelo, but I go by Mikey," Mikey did the same, except hugging her, which she awkwardly returned.

"Oh, so you're Cowabunga Carl?" she asked when they parted.

"Yeah. Weren't you the one who helped me when your sister and the other kids tackled me?" Mikey wondered.

"Yeah. That's her," Skylar said.

"That's awesome!" Mikey responded.

"And sorry about that," Skylar apologized.

"No prob, little dudette," Mikey answered, messing up her hair a little, which made her laugh.

"Well, it was nice meeting you guys," Jamie replied.

"Same," Leo returned.

"Mikey, could you keep an eye on Skylar? At least until she has to go to bed?" Jamie asked.

"Yeah. Sure, dudette," Mikey answered.

She went up to Raph's room and she knocked on the door. He let her in.

"Raph, your family is nice. I still don't see why you're mad at Leo," she admitted.

"Just wait. You'll see," he said.

She nodded and he patted a spot on the bed. Since there was only one guest bedroom, Skylar got it while Jamie had to sleep in Raph's room. She didn't complain to that. They went to sleep, but without either of them knowing, Raph wrapped his arms around her. That ought to be a sight to see when they wake up.
