You slipped into the red, elegant dress you had bought at least two weeks ago in preparation for tonight. This was your first night at your new job. Of course you knew what you were getting into, the renowned Penguin being your boss and all that jazz. But you were still excited. You had met Oswald not long after he won the club from Fish. Your old boss was, shall I say, a lot worse than Oswald could ever be and he found you outside your old place beaten within an inch of your life. He made sure his mother looked after you and offered you a new job. Don't get me wrong, you knew what Oswald could do and that still frightened you but for some reason he took a shine to you and you weren't going to turn the job down.
You pierced your ears in the slowly closing holes with your expensive earrings that you hadn't saw fit to wear until today. To top off the outfit you put on some gold and silver bangles and your favourite sparkly shoes. The club was only two blocks away and yet Oswald had still sent a car to pick you up and assured you it would also be there to take you home after you're finished. You put on a fluffy coat and locked the door behind you before placing your keys in your coat pocket and zipping it up. The black and tinted car was almost invisibly camouflaged due to the dark Gotham skies. You slid into the back and the man at the front nodded at you through the reflection in the mirror. Other than that the car ride was silent and you preferred it that way as it gave you time to keep yourself calm and your excitement to a low level.
You pulled up very soon and someone else opened the door for you. You looked up to see Oswald smiling at you with a hand stretched out for you to grab. His happiness was contagious and a smile soon plastered itself over your face as you rested your small, dainty hands on top of his large cold ones. He pulled you out and you ended up extremely close to him.
"This is all a bit much for me to get to work, don't you think?" you breathed out watching as Oswald chuckled at you.
"I just want to show you that you will be happy and safe here, unlike your last job."
"Thank you," you whispered.
"Alright let's get you inside to set up," he moved you to his side and gave you his arm to take.
No matter what anyone says or how he acts outside of the club, Oswald was a gentleman and he cared for anyone who cared for or understood him.
Your heels clapped against the concrete solid floor of the city and you instantly felt a flood of warmth as you entered the club.
You felt your coat being removed from your arms and looked to see one of Oswald's men taking it to the coat room out back.
"It feels like I'm more of a celebrity guest than a singer," you smiled.
"You don't seem to be protesting too much though."
You shook your head laughing at the truthful comment Oswald had made.
Oswald directed you to the stage and you set up with the rest of your newly met band.
"Y/N? Would you come here a second before you begin?" Oswald called from the bar.
You stepped down carefully off the stage and announced to the band that you wouldn't be long.
Walking over to Oswald you noticed him getting a big, thin, black box out from behind it.
"Yes, boss," you smirked and he smiled shaking his head at you.
"Please never call me that again," he joked.
"I have something for you," he admitted.
"Well, it's a little early for my pay check. Don't you think you should actually see me perform first?"
Oswald sniggered, "It's not a pay check and you won't be getting one if you don't stop making sarcastic comments."
You pretended to zip up your mouth and throw away the key and watched as he opened the box to reveal a beautiful necklace. It was gold and silver and glowed in every lighting in a different way. You gasped while placing your hand over your mouth.
"This is for me?" you choked out.
Oswald nodded, smiling at your reaction, "I wanted to get you a welcoming present and when you explained your beautiful outfit to me, which you look gorgeous in by the way, I couldn't help but notice you neck looked a little bear. Do you like it?"
You nodded aggressively, "it's stunning. I love it. Thank you so much."
Your reached forward and wrapped your arms around Oswald in happiness and he placed an arm tightly around your waist while holding the necklace in the other. You pulled back and Oswald made a spinning motion with his fingers to tell you to turn around. His cold hands delicately skimmed across your back as he moved your hair off your neck and over your shoulder, causing Goosebumps to erupt on your skin. His arms stretched around your neck and placed the cold metal onto your warm neck. He struggled for a little while with doing it up and then you felt him pull your hair gently back to where it was before.
"How do I look?" you asked him nervously.
He clicked his fingers and one of his goons passed him a mirror which he then pointed at you.
You smiled, "I can't believe it. It's so gorgeous."
"You're gorgeous," he smiled and leant forward to place a gentle sweet kiss on your forehead.
"I think I'm going to like working here you know," you smiled.
"I hope so because I'm not letting you go anywhere else to work," he laughed and you joined in.
Suddenly his face became serious and he looked you dead in the eye, "I'm not joking though. You seriously will be working here forever."
