"Revlis! Time for school, honey!" I heard my mother call from the kitchen. I was so excited, I couldn't stand still.

I raced down the stairs, wondering what we would be doing. I had just started at Chaos Valley Middle School, and it was so huge, I, for some reason, thought that I was going to get lost. I don't know why, but I have some kind of GPS in my head, so I seem to know where everything is. So why would I get lost? I also have some kind of thingy, where you just move your hand and think about moving something, and it moves. What's it called? Uh.... Telekinesis! That's it! I have telekinesis.

I know someone else who has telekinesis, too. His name is Silver. We've been friends for about three years. We both started Third grade and went on, until now. Hopefully he's going to Chaos Valley too.

I missed Silver a lot. He was the only friend I ever had, ever. I came into the kitchen and sat down at the table.

"Are you all packed and ready to go?" Mom asked me.

"Yes! I can't wait, I wonder what we're going to be doing?!" I had always liked school. I'm not sure why. It was just fun to get to see new teachers and this year I was going to do track. I hadn't done track before and if it involves running, then I'm all for it. I love to run. And draw. In previous years, I used to doodle on my school work.

I still do. My teachers never really pay much attention to me, unless I walk up to them, so I like sitting at the back of the classroom, doodling on my paper, with Silver watching over my shoulder.

Once, when we were on the playground in fourth grade, I was on the sideline that borders the playground, drawing on a piece of notebook paper, and I was drawing a picture of myself and Silver, both of us giving a thumbs up. Or maybe I was doing the peace sign. I can't remember. But I was sitting there with Silver watching me, and he was so amazed by it.

"Man, you're good! Look at you! Look at me! You got our features just right! I can't even do a fish in a puddle. And the fluff on our chests looks so real!" he told me.

"Well, Silver, I don't think I'm that good." I said, blushing from all the praise he was giving me for my drawing.

"You're great!" suddenly he gasped. "You could be in the talent show this Friday!"

    "W- what?! N- no, Silver, I- I can't!" I stammered.

"Of course you can! You have the art skills of a tenth grader!" he said happily.

Of course, I did go. I was very interested in the prize they had. An Extreme Gear hoverboard. A blue one. My most favorite color in the world. So, on Wednesday night, I went to work on a cat picture. It was a picture of a cat with her babies, and they looked so cute. I thought maybe that would let me win. I worked on it day and night, and by Thursday night, around midnight, I had it finished. It looked exactly like the original picture. Only in black and white, of course.

On Friday morning, I took my picture to the auditorium. They put it up against the wall, facing towards it, so that no one would see it and try to steal it and claim it as their own. I couldn't wait. When finally, 1:00 came around, I hurried to the auditorium. I grabbed my picture and stood to wait on a couple more people to show up, because one or two people had already shown up and were sitting onstage. One was a purple chameleon, I figured out his name was Espio, and the other was a very annoying pink hedgehog, that I figured out was Amy Rose. She wouldn't shut up.

"What'd you draw Revlis? Huh? What'd you draw? Blah blah blah blah......" Until finally the judges and a few more people came in.

"Okay, so this is how we're going to do this." Dr. Ruby said. He put his stuff down on the table. "There is a projector on the ceiling, directed at that blank screen back there." he pointed. " There is some kind of thingy ma dooger back there too, that you put your art onto. Put your art there and it will be project on the screen fro everyone to see."

I looked at him, then I looked behind me at the thingy ma dooger he was talking about. When I saw it I knew what it was. My previous teachers had called it an Elmo or something like that. I nodded in acknowledgement and turned back around in my seat.

"Revlis, you're first." Dr. Ruby suddenly said.

    "Me?" I said.

"Yes, you." he said raising his voice on 'you' like I had on 'me'. "Now go."

I got up cautiously, and then made my way over to the Elmo. I hesitated before putting the actual picture.

"Well?" I heard Dr. Ruby say impatiently.

I hesitated, then I laid my art down beside it and flattened my ears. I heard gasps coming from behind me. I just stared at my artwork. It did look good. Amazing, even.

"Alright, you may leave the thingy dooger now." I quickly grabbed my art from the Elmo and back to my seat, blushing violently. My face was burning hot.

"Amy, your turn." Dr. Ruby said, not taking his eyes off of me. I kept my head down as the others did their art.

"Revlis, come here please." Dr. Ruby told me firmly.

I came and sat down beside him. He stared at me with cold blue eyes.

"How did you get so good at drawing?" I was surprised to find that his voice was softer.

I swallowed hard and tugged at the collar of my jacket, which was zipped up all the way. You wouldn't believe how cold it was in that school. It seemed as if it was getting colder the longer we sat there. But I was burning so much with embarrassment, that it was getting hot in my jacket.

    "I- I d- don't know, sir." I stuttered. "I...... I doodle on my school work and I draw a lot at home."

"Well, you do very well for a fourth grader." he murmured.

"Th- thank you, sir." I mumbled.

"We'll announce the winner during the last few minutes of school." he got up and led me to my fourth grade class.

When I got in there, I sat at the back with Silver. My face must have been as red as the crayon in my hand, because Silver asked me a question.

"Did they embarrass you? I bet they did." he smirked a little. Not a mean smirk but a sympathetic one.

"Yep." my voice came out squeaky. I cleared my throat and tried again. "Yep. They did."

    "Hmm...." was his only reply.

"Teachers, pardon the interruption, but at this time we are announcing the winner of the talent contest for the most amazing artwork." I heard the intercom say.

"Revlis Hedgehog, is the first place winner." it said.

I felt my blood run cold. A lump formed in my throat. I couldn't believe it. The class turned around in their seats and stared at me. I blushed again, more than before. Suddenly, the class burst into cheers and shouts of my name. It was so loud that I didn't hear the other two names for second and third places. I looked over at Silver, who was smiling and cheering my name with the others. I was bewildered. No one had paid this much attention to me.

"Revlis!" I heard my Mom snap. Her voice brought me back to reality. "Hurry, honey, you're gonna miss the bus." she said. Then I remembered that I was going to middle school now. Not fourth grade.

I grabbed a Pop tart, told Mom goodbye, and headed out the door to wait for the bus.
