I tore my eyes away from his and looked at his wrist, were I saw something bright. A ring was wrapped around it, glinting a pale gold color in the light of the hallway. At first, I couldn't think of what they were, my attacker was crushing my windpipe, and I couldn't think clearly. Then it came to me as the ring flashed another glint of gold into my eyes, blinding me for a second.

He was one of the beings considered an Ultimate Lifeform.

I gulped. He must've seen the fear in my eyes, because he followed my gaze to the rings. He snickered.

"Yes, I am one of the Ultimate Lifeforms." he put his nose right up to my ear, letting his weight crush my neck even more.

I yelped in pain. As much as I could with him gripping my throat as if it was a piece of paper with a messed up drawing on it. Hey, I love drawing, and I mess up a lot.

I felt his breath on my earfur and it sort of tickled.

"I suggest you don't get on my bad side, singer." he whispered. "Otherwise," he chuckled evilly. "I'll take these babies off and you'll feel more pain than what you're already feeling."

He shoved himself up, giving me one last squeeze to the neck as he did so, then he let go and I fell to my knees, gasping and coughing. I had one hand rubbing my throat as I looked into the mean looking brown eyes of my attacker.

"I defy you." I got out. He lunged for me, but Cinos and Sonic stopped him, jumping in front of him before he could get his hands on me.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, Reflects! Chill!" Sonic said, holding one arm.

Cinos, holding the other, had a terrified expression on his face, his red eyes flicking to and from Reflects wrists then back to his enraged face.

"You do not defy me, you damn bastard!!!!!! You will pay for what you just said!!!!!!!!!!" he yelled, inches away from my face.

Sonic and Cinos started dragging a flailing Reflects down to what I thought was the counciling office. I breathed a sigh of relief.

"Man, that was harsh." I heard Manic say behind me. I had forgotten that he was there.

"Oh no. We have a bully!" Silver whimpered.

"Hey, Revlis, is your throat okay?" Manic asked after a long silence.

"I- I think so." I stammered, still looking in the direction that Sonic and Cinos dragged Reflects.

"Here, let me see." Manic got down on his knees beside me. He gently told me to lift my head so he could see my neck.

I obeyed and winced when he gently touched were Reflects had crushed my windpipe. He took his hand away quickly, realizing that it hurt me. Then he looked me straight in the eye and I understood perfectly.

I had to be brave when he inspected my neck, because it was possibly going to hurt when he did this. He felt around on my neck, going no lower than my jacket collar. I wanted to yell out in pain, it hurt so badly. I flattened my ears and gritted my teeth. I squeezed my eyes closed tightly. When he was done checking me, I let out a sigh of relief.

"Okay, minor injuries. Your larynx seems to be really sore and bruised, though." he reported.

    "My what?" I asked confusedly.

"Your larynx. That thing at the front of your neck. Your voice box, basically." he tried to explain.

"Oh." I felt of it and winced at the pain of just a gentle touch of my finger. Reflects really put some weight on it for it to be this sore.

"How do you know so much about being a doctor? And what was wrong with Revlis?" Silver asked him.

"My mother. She would take care of Sonic when he would lose his footing and skin his knees on the ground. Then Sonia had some kinda thing wrong with her voice, uh, some kinda disease or something, uh....." he rubbed his head in thought.

"Laryngitis, or, something like that." he said finally.

"Well, I bet it wasn't as painful as this." I mumbled. I looked up at Manic, who was looking at me skeptically.

"What?" I asked. He jerked, as if he was snapped out of something.

"Nothing. Nothing at all. Let's get you to the clinic." he helped me up, and, with one arm under mine, helped me get to the clinic. I was exhausted, despite my blazing eyes. I was panting, and it hurt to swallow, but I pushed on. Then a thought hit me like a ton of bricks.

What about the competition tomorrow? What would I do then? Crap. I had to sing. I had to. I could heal pretty fast, but another thought came to me. What could I sing? I finally decided on a song, the one that was going through my head, the one that everyone was talking about.

    The Final Countdown.

==================================================

Hey, guys, sorry for the late update, I had run out of ideas. And if you don't know the song mentioned in this chapter, then just look up The Final Countdown by Europe. I might change the song during the next chapter, because of something that happens. Byes!!!!
