I finally got out of the hospital yesterday. It was hard to let go of Reflects, even if it was just to get up and walk around. I had finally found the brother my Mom had told me so much about, and they expected me to cooperate and get up and walk away from him? I smiled. I remembered that I did happen to bite one of thems hand.

I walked to class with Silver at my side, being my personal bodyguard. Reflects was another, staying well behind us. He kept telling us that he wasn't watching out for me, but every time I would look around, I would find him somewhere. I would always ask him why he follows us, and it would be the same answer.

"Hey, Reflects, why do you always follow us everywhere?" I would ask.

"Uh, what? Pfft, I'm not following you, don't be so absurd, bro." he would answer.

I know he's just trying to cover up the fact that he's looking out for me. I can see right through the little fibs he's telling. He makes me happy though. Nowadays he's been eating with me at lunch, telling extremely funny jokes that he's heard from other people over the years, man, they literally make me double over laughing.

"Okay, so there was this teacher, and she got ready to teach math class." Reflects said one time.

"Yeah?" I said. We were at lunch, so it was okay to sit together and listen to him.

"Okay, so she says, 'Class, what is a fraction?'" he snickered. "'Yes, Billy?' Billy says, 'Um... a broken bone?' Teacher says, 'No... Jimmy do you know?' Jimmy looks up from a paper he was doodling on. 'Uh. Not really. Unless it means that someone likes someone a lot.' The teacher says, '. . . No... that's attraction.'" he smiled.

Meanwhile, I was doubled over, laughing my head off. Silver thought it was a little corny.

I looked over at Reflects and smiled. Silver had no sense of humor. I could say something like this and he wouldn't even giggle:

"Hey, kids, there's nothing more cool than being hugged by someone you like. But if someone tries to touch you in a place or way that makes you feel uncomfortable, that's no good. It's your body, no one has the right to touch you if you don't want them to. So what do ya do? First, ya say: Poop. Then, ya say: My boy. Then, ya say: Boobies. Then, ya say: Objection! Then, ya say: Liar! Then, ya say: It buuuurnnns!!! Then, ya say: Oohhhhhhh yeeaaah. Then, ya get outta there!" And I would try to keep a straight face, and then burst out laughing when I was finished. But Silver for some reason, didn't laugh. At all of those funny phrases and words I said, he didn't even giggle.

"Dude, what's wrong with you? You haven't been laughing as much as you used to." I said one day, trying to figure out what was wrong.

"It just seems that you're paying more attention to Reflects than to me." he said sadly.

"Silver, are you jealous?" I glared at him. "There's no need to be jealous, Silver. He's my brother. Why can't I spend time with him? I know we've been friends for, like, four years, and I know I just met him, but he's my brother. Family before friends."

Suddenly, the intercom came on and started talking.

"Pardon the interruption, but will Revlis Hedgehog please report to the office for a message." it said.

"Wonder what that could be for? Let's go!" Silver got up with me to go to the office.

"Silver, I'm sorry about what happened in the lunchroom. I guess I was just a little ticked that you were jealous of Reflects." I apologized.

"It's alright Revlis. I forgive you." He said cheerfully.

As we turned into the office door, I saw an attorney officer standing in the middle of the room. He looked serious.

"Are you Revlis? Come here please." he said firmly. There was an edge to his voice that made me wonder what was wrong.

"Yes. What is it occifer?" I said, acting stupid.

"Your... Your mother has been in a terrible car accident." He said finally.

"What?" I whispered. My blood ran cold. My mother? In a car accident? How?

"Is... is she okay?" I whimpered.

"No, Revlis. She's not." he hesitated before saying the next few words.

    "She's dead."
