KPOP - Astro - Finding Fate

Chapter 2

*buzz buzz* *buzz buzz*
Dongmin was awoken by the constant buzz of his alarm. He quickly turned his alarm off and sat up, dazed, and rubbed his eyes, blinking rapidly and looking around.

" Today is the big day " he thought, grunting and swinging his legs out of bed. He stood up and stretched, then sauntered his way to the bathroom and turned on the shower.

After quickly washing and shampooing, he stepped out with a towel wrapped around his waist. He roughly towel-dried his hair and body. Slipping on underwear and pants, Dongmin stumbled downstairs to be greeted by his mom who seemed to be very excited.

"Hi baby, are you ready for today. Do good!" she wished. "Yeah I guess I'm as ready as I'll get, but I'm still a bit nervous," he admitted, glancing down at his timer on his wrist, as his mom's eyes followed his instinctively. When everything had registered, a shocked gasp escaped her lips, to be followed by a joyful squeal.

"Dongmin, why didn't you tell me? This is great news! I wonder who they will be? Maybe a very pretty girl with a small face.... or perhaps a very handsome guy with a sharp jawline! Oh goodness I'm so happy for you! When do I get to meet them? I better meet them immediately!" his mom quickly said in a rush, not slowing down a bit between sentences.

The only response Dongmin could show was one of utter surprise. She had seemed ok with the whole soulmate meeting thing happening so soon. She was even ok if it was a guy. He could only stare at her in shock, with his mouth wide open as his brain tried to form words.

"Well son don't just stand there go get ready. We can talk about your soulmate when you find them. And don't be shy around them." commanded his mom. She seemed more happy about all this than he was. Slightly confused, Dongmin shuffled upstairs. Sitting on the edge of his bed, he shot a quick text to Myungjun and Jinwoo, hinting he had news and asking them to meet him at the cafe in 30 minutes.

As Dongmin finished getting ready, his mind constantly wondered to who on this earth might his soulmate be.

~At The Cafe~

"Sooo what is this news you have spoken of?" Myungjun inquired as Dongmin sat in the seat between Jinwoo and Myungjun.

"Well, mom kind of saw my timer this morning..." he trailed off, glancing down at it again instinctively, reading the print that had 48 minutes left on it.

"How'd she react?" Jinwoo piped up, oddly serious for once, and looking quite concerned.

"She was... happy about it. She was smiling and asking when she could meet the person. She even said it was ok if it was a guy..." Dongmin trailed off again, lost in thought.

A large sigh of relief fell from both Jinwoo and Myungjun's lips as they looked at each other and smiled.

"That's great Dongmin! Wow! See we told you she'd be ok with it." Jinwoo happily cheered, earning a small smile from Dongmin.

Suddenly, Dongmin's phone lit up with a reminder of auditions starting in 30 minutes. 43 minutes his timer now read.

"Oh man guys we need to go now... we have 30 minutes to get there. And being a few minutes early could never hurt. Let's go," he ushered, standing up with Jinwoo and Myungjun close in pursuit.

~At Fantagio~

"Wow, this place is nice," comment Jinwoo as the trio walked through the big front doors of the building. "Very," added Dongmin, looking around the large room in astonishment.

"Hi guys how can I help you?" greeted a receptionist as she smiled brightly up at the boys.

"Um, hi, where do we go for the auditions today?" Dongmin quietly asked.

"You can take the elevators over there," she motioned to two elevators on the opposite wall, "up to the fourth floor. From there you can find signs that will take you to the big waiting room." she answered thoroughly, still smiling at the boys.

"Ah, thank you!" Dongmin said greatfully, bowing slightly and turning to head to the elevators with the other two boys in tow.

Upon reaching them and pressing the "up" button, the doors to one opened immediately and the three boys entered.

Dongmin slowly presses the 4 button, catching sight of his timer that now only had 12 minutes on it. He slowly leaned back on the wall of the elevator, leaning his head back and breathing out heavily in an attempt to calm his heavily beating heart.

The other two boys seemed to be just as nervous, but Jinwoo seemed more excited by all this. As the elevator dinged to signal they were at their destination, they all three slowly exited and looked around attentively for signs to point their way to the waiting room.

In front of the elevator was a paper with a big arrow on the front pointing to the left. As the boys silently agreed that that was the way, they all slowly walked in the direction, following the paper signs with arrows all the way to the end of a hall with two big black doors that had papers taped all over them.

Slowly approaching the doors, the boys all noticed a light chatter coming from the other side, along with audition papers and a long list of names of people who were auditioning. Inspecting the paper more closely, fine print at the top of the paper asked that you check your name off upon arrival.

Grabbing pens from the conveniently placed table beside the doors, each boy checked off their name, noticing there were not many names that did not include a check mark beside them already. Setting down the pens. The three boys looked at each other, each looking very nervous.

"Well guys, it's now or never," Myungjun said, breathing out heavily and wiping his hands on his pants.

Quickly looking down to his timer which had 6 minutes left, Dongmin sighed out again for the hundredth time that day.

"Let's do it," Jinwoo smiled as Dongmin nodded in agreeance.

Stepping up to the double doors, Myungjun put a hand on both handles and twisted, pushing the doors open and entering into the large room that contained Dongmin's soulmate and the other three boys who would change all of their lives forever.
