8: The New Year and The Old Year

December 2018

"Ge!" Bea called Gerald and waved at him.

He was waiting for her at their favorite private restaurant. He made reservations and everything. He greeted her with a kiss on the cheek and a hug. He even pulled the chair for her.

"What's the occasion? Bakit gusto mo mag dinner tayo?" She smiled at him.

"Why don't we order first." He replied.

She talked about her busy work. Her lives and anything she can think of. But Gerald was quietly listening to her. He'll smile and fake laugh when she laughs.

Finally a silence.

"Bea. I wanted to tell you something," he said nervously. "I-I-" he started stuttering.

"What is it?" She hold his hand on the table.

"I- I will not be here for New Years," he finally said. What he really wanted to say is that she still loves Sarah and wants to break up with Bea. But Bea is nothing but nice to him. And very supportive on everything he does. He can't see her hurt. He's now feeling so guilty.

"Awww its okay honey," she smiled at him. "I will be out of the country anyway. I have shows and taping. Sucks nga eh. But don't worry we'll see each other sa Christmas. Right?"

"Ye-yeah. Of course!" He fake smile.

Year 2019

"Shin?" Sarah said.

"Fred?" Gerald walked towards the two people they saw from afar.

They saw them talking to each other and laughing. They seemed like they're enjoying each other's company.

"Babe! Babe!" Awat ni Sarah. She pull him back by his arm. "Hayaan na natin sila. Hindi naman tayo nakita. Let's enjoy our New Year together." She hugged him. "Pleeeeease?" She pouted.

"Ohhhkaaayyyy." He pouted too and kissed her. They both went back to their blanket under the  Eiffel Tower. Sarah sit in front of Gerald while he hugged her from behind. "Mrs. Anderson." He whispered.

"Mr. Geronimo," she joked. "Do you want to spend the night at my hotel room?"

"Mrs. Anderson!" He said shocked.

Hinampas nya ang fiancé nya. "Sira!" She chuckled. "Bakit ayaw mo?" She looked at him.

He got up fast and pulled her up. "Tara!" He quickly cleaned up their picnic setting. Tawa lang ng tawa si Sarah habang pinapanood sya.

They were walking holding hand when Sarah's phone rang. It was Mateo. "Hi Matt!" She answered. "Ha? Hello? .... I can't hear you! .... what?" She looked at Gerald. "Wh-where? .... okay. Okay. I'm coming..." she hung up.

Gerald frowned. "He's here?!"

Sarah nodded. "I'm sorry babe. I didn't know."
