Choose You or Humanity, Lalita?

“So you are the soul I’m supposed to be attached too. Well I’m disappointed. Isn’t there anything valuable about you? I thought you were some glowing magnificent soul by the way Satan talked about you. Maybe he’ll throw you aside for me.” I could hear the laughter but could see nothing of the person responsible for it

“I am a part of you so I should be plenty.”

I heard a voice call from behind me as I left the mist and entered a cave. Behind me stood a girl that was identical to me, if you held a mirror in front of me you’d see this girl. Lalita, I believe Feira called her. The printed was wearing a blue silk gown. The bodice fit her perfectly while the bottom was simple strips of blue fabric attached giving her a beautiful elegant look. She almost looked like a fairy but I could tell something was not right about her. From my experience in the other hells I knew that nothing was ever how it appeared.  I looked at Lalita without fear, without kindness, without pain, without the missing parts of my soul. If anyone was to be feared in this cave it was to going to be me.

“Yeah, yeah who gives a crap what a two cent copy of me says. Take me to Satan. Isn’t that what he sent you here for?” I paused long enough to hear Lalita gasp before saying without emotion “From my experience in the other hells I know that nothing is ever how it appears so show yourself Lalita.  I’ll look at you without fear, without kindness, without pain, without the missing parts of my soul. If anyone is to be feared in this cave it is to going to be me.”

“How dare you…”

“Well it’s quite nice to meet you since we already know each other’s names why don’t we skip the introductions and you tell me who and what you are?”

“That was always your problem. All work but no clever wit.”

“Won’t have that problem for long now will I? Since I’m dead and all.”

“You make it sound so dreadful to be trapped in this place but it’s nice inside these walls. The master never harms me and I’ve been here since you got revived. He asked me to go retrieve you but I wouldn’t dare walk outside these walls so I sent those three wenches.” The look in Lalita’s eyes as she spoke of her master was something that I could barely even recognize. It was admiration and lust all mixed into jealousy; jealousy of me.

Once her words caught my understanding anger flashed through me as a habit instead of an instinct. “They are not wenches!”

“No but they did serve their purpose. They showed you that you’ve lost yourself already. We aren’t going back to that body nor are we leaving hell.”

“So who are you?”

“I am part of your soul just like those other girls.” Sounding disgusted with the fact she was part of me Lalita explained in a duh type fashion.

“Thank you for stating the obvious. Now do you want to quit playing the vague game and tell me which part of me you really are. I’ve got time to wait for an answer but does your master like to wait long from things he desires?”

There was an icy edge to the words as she glared at my changing expression. “Fine I’ll tell you.”

“That’s what I thought you’d say.”

“Do you know that part of you that desires some type of connection to a person? The part they call humanity?” I nodded my head with understanding of the word but not exactly the meaning behind the word humanity. “Well you are the last of your humanity living inside that empty vessel. On the other hand I am the opposite. When you’ve lost everything and are the perfect sinner you become me.”

“I’m sorry but I’m not following whatever you are trying to tell me.”

“If you do not put your soul back together before you try to return than you will be like me instead of you. You are the remaining piece of the pure soul that somehow remained after it was broken!” Exasperation seeped into Lalita’s voice before she said in a deadly tone “unless you put it together you will be warped into a monster that takes a human form like me. Never again will you look at someone as a person. Everyone will look like a pawn in a game of chess. Do you understand now?”

“If I try to return to my body now it won’t be me that returns. If I returned now with Hope, Serenity, Fiera, and you then all of you would tear me apart until all that’s left is one of you wreaking havoc in my body.”

An evil smile came across Lalita’s face as she closed her eyes at this idea but soon she opened tem again to look at me. “Correct so let’s go see Satan. That man truly is not patient nor will he take anyone but you.”
