"Peyton, you don't want to be late for school." My father said, gently shaking me. I groaned and rolled over, pretending that I didn't hear him. He sighed. "Peyton, I know you're nervous for your first day at a new school, but I promise you'll be okay." I sat up in my bed, sleepily rubbing my eyes. "That's my girl. Now hurry and get dressed before you miss the bus." He smiled, leaving me to dress in peace. I dragged myself out of bed, walking to my wardrobe to put on my uniform, which in all honesty, I absolutely hated it. Short black skirt and a white button up? I'd rather be homeschooled and wear my skinny jeans. I ran downstairs and picked up an apple and kissed my father goodbye before getting on the bus.
Stares. I recieved multiple stares as I got on the bus. As I looked for a seat, girls threw their purses on the seat, claiming that they were 'saving' the seat for someone else, but in all honesty, we both knew that they probably weren't going to. I passed by a boy around my age, with Jet Black hair and Hazel coloured eyes. He gazed at me, and I simply smiled towards him before walking to the back of the bus. So I sat alone in the back of the bus, texting some of my friends from back home. Suddenly this asshole tapped my shoulder and sat in the seat in front of me. "Hey baby. You new?" He smirked. I looked at him in disgust. "Go on somewhere." I said, shooing him away. He huffed. " I didn't even want to talk to you anyways." He went back to his original seat.
I heard someone snicker, as I looked up, A curly haired boy was sitting across from me. "Good one, yeah?" I smiled, and he nodded. "No one has ever talked to Johnny like that. That was hilarious!" He chuckled. ""My name is Raymond. But my friends call me Ray." "Like you even have friends, fro boy!" A girl spat, making the entire bus laugh. "No one was asking you, bitch!" I said, and she quickly shut up. "Anyways, I'm Peyton Mattingly." "Nice to meet you. So, you're new?" Ray asked, and I nodded. "I came from Washington State." He grinned. "My grandparents live in Washington." I smiled. "Well, I bet they're lovely people." He nodded. "So who do you usually hang around, Ray?" He pointed to a boy with pin straight hair, and glasses. "That's my best friend Mikey." The boy smiled, and waved at me. I waved in return. "And over there is his brother, Gerard." He pointed to the boy I saw earlier. His eyes met mine, and they sparkled, his long hair clung to his face. We continued to stare at eachother until the bus pulled to a stop, signaling that it was time to get off.
