The next night i didn't talk. Not a single peep came out of my mouth and that morning i woke up with sweat dripping from my forehead.

It was quite bothering; crying until i drifted into sleep, and even then, there was no escape for the terror that i felt. Calum had been trying to convince me to give him another chance but i wasn't sure yet.

What he did, even if it was while he was intoxicated was unacceptable. I didn't know what to do. A plan hatched into my mind as i sat on a bar stool in the kitchen.

Calum approached me for about the fifteenth time in the past hour, asking for my forgiveness.

"Fine." I stated, looking him directly in the eyes.

"Really?!" he exclaimed, jumping in excitement.

"Yes, but on one condition,"

Calum looked at me eagerly, waiting for my response,

"you don't mark me."

His face dropped and he started to protest.

"Violet, i don't think you understand, he'll kill you, or worse! You're my mate, i can't let you get hurt."

He took a step closer to me, reaching for my hands but i took a step backwards instead.

"Don't. What's a mate?"

"A mate is a relationship already decided by fate. A relationship between a vampire and another soul. We're meant be together Violet, please."

He stepped forward again and before i could react his hands we're clutching mine, sparks flying up my arms and sending a tingling sensation down my body.

"Tell me you don't feel them, that you don't feel the sparks." He muttered, looking into my eyes.

I held his hands a little longer, trying to conjure up a response but i couldn't fathom words. The tingling sensation continued to run up and down my body and the warmth felt so nice...

Snap out of it Violet!

I shook my head and tugged my hands out of Calum's, running my fingers through my hair swiftly.

"Do we have a deal?"

He closed his eyes and clutched his head, processing what i had offered.

"Yes." he gulped, and with that, he turned his back and walked out of the room.

I opened the door to Calum's room, catching him pacing back and forth. I cleared my throat and he turned to face me expectantly.

"I'm going on a walk, just through town, i won't be long."

"You're not going anywhere without me, let me get my coat." He counteracted.

"Calum," I whined, "It's just a walk!"

"And Ashton could be out there to rip you from my clutches, I won't lose you again..."

I sighed and stormed to the front door, waiting for Calum with my arms crossed over my chest.

He gave me a grim nod before opening the door for us. I've never seen Calum this sad before, his face held a frown that made him look as miserable as ever.
