As lucy walked down the lonely sidewalk she heard crunching leaves behind her. As she slowly turned around, she eyed the two black crows that sat on the dead tree's branch. As a chill ran down her back she quickly turned her back to the crows and quickened her pace.

The wind picked up as the sun went down, the lamp posts flickered on and off as her footsteps got heavier from the weight of the books she carried on her back. She carried the invisible weight of her father's death on her already tired shoulders. He had died of an overdose on february 22, 1999. It was her third birthday since she was born.

He had left a note which read 'take care of our daughter, i had to do this. For her, for us. He won't stop until im dead. Lucy is in danger as long as i'm still alive. That is why i did this. To keep her safe. I hope she understands and forgives me when she is older. Tell her that i loved her with all my heart, and even in death i still will. - Gunner Lyndon'

The wind howled as she rounded the corner to get to her house. Light footstep were heard behind her, as if someone was following. She went into her coat pocket and searched for her house key so she would be able to quickly escape if necessary. As she got up the steps to her house she quickly turned around to see a pale man not even ten feet behind her.

She gasped as he charged for her. She quickly took out her keys and slammed the door open and quickly shut it as he made it up the last step. He banged on the door louder each time, shouting at her to let him in. her heart was racing as she collapsed on the floor, fear was evident on her face as she kept her gazed on the oak door which was being pounded on by the creepy pale ghostlike man.

She remembered that her mom would always leave the back door unlocked just incase lucy left her keys inside the house. With all the strength she could muster, lucy shot up and bolted to every window and door in the house and double checked if they were locked. If they weren't she would lock it securely.

Closing all the curtains she noticed the pounding on the door stopped. She immediately ran to the window and checked if he was still there. He wasn't. That put her on high alert, she sprinted to any and every entrance and dialed her mother's cell.

"Hello this is Cheryl Maxwell..."

"MOM." lucy frantically yelled into the phone.

"This is a prerecorded message, i am not at the phone at the moment so if you would please leave a message at the beep, i will get to you as soon as possible."

The phone beeped and panic was the only thing that Lucy could feel and think of. Nonsense was spouting out of her mouth as she tried to get her message across.

"MOM... l-l there's a man. I- what do i do? i 'm scared. Don't come home. Please..." the door jingled indicating that someone was trying to go through the back.

She grabbed the knife that was closest to her on the kitchen table. She held it close to her chest, as she trembled looking at the back door.

The door opened and the skinny pale man walked in.

"Surprise darling." his gruesome yelled toothed smile widened as she screamed with terror.

He grabbed the pocket knife that he had hidden on the belt of his ripped dirty pants. And slowly limped towards her,"I'll make it quick." he chuckled wickedly.
