Chapter Twenty Six

"(Name), call your daddy upstairs, it's time for dinner." my Mom said. She's still at the kitchen, stirring the crab and corn soup my father requested.

I nod at her, placed the last plate on my and at the dinning table before I ran out of the dinning area and up the stairs to where my parents' room is. "Dad! Dinner is ready." I said while walking towards their room's door.

I was about to open the slightly closed door when, "I need to hang up. My daughter is calling me for dinner." I heard my Dad said with a quiet voice. He was talking with somebody over his mobile phone.

I wanted to call him one last time, but I froze to where I was standing when he spoke again. "I love you more, babe. See you in few days." He whispered, but loud enough to make me hear it clearly.

I was still standing in front of my parents' room when I hear my dad put away his phone. It make a sound over the bedside table. It made me flinch, and before my father walk over the door, I ran down to the comfort room under our stairs.

I didn't realized I was crying, until I saw my face in the mirror above the sink. I was young back in that moment, only fifteen. Yet, I know what is the meaning of all that I have heard over my Father and that someone on the phone.

My Dad is cheating with my Mom. My Mother who sacrificed everything she has for her Husband and her children.

"(Name), hurry up! Dad wants to eat already," I heard my older brother, Kristoff, knocked and call out of the door. I immediately rinse my face and wipe it with the towel hanging in the wall, then check my reflection back in the mirror. After I guarantied that I wasn't look like I have cried, I open the door to my waiting older brother. "Sorry for waiting." I said with a fake smile spread all over my face.

That night, we ate dinner like we usually do. Like a normal family do. We were talking and laughing, except for the fact that I can't look at my Father's face. I was also laughing awkwardly with his jokes, trying my best not to ruin this beautiful family like my Dad's already doing.

"By the way. Hon, is the business trip you've said before is in this coming Friday?" my Mom asked my Dad. I feel my body tensed. The spoon I am about to take landed back to my plate.

"Yes. Two days from now." My Dad casually answered. For all I know, it wasn't really a business trip.

"Where was it again, Dad?" Kristoff asked too, while nibbling his rice and chicken. I smiled inside my head.

"Palawan." He answered back, again with a swift voice. He's such a good liar. He wasn't even tensing up to all this fake business trip he was planning.

The topic went on. Where he was going to stay, for what matter is this trip. After the exchanges of questions and answers, I can no longer gulp my food. I lost my appetite. I stand up, took my plate up, put my left over food on the garbage then put the China wear in the sink. I walk back in the dining area to get my unopened milk pudding cup for dessert.

"On a diet, my little miss?" my Dad teasingly said when I am about to turn around to go up to my room. I gulp, it was hard to look at his face after what I've heard earlier. But, I wanted to do something, something that will make him scared or flinch at this very moment.

"Dad, can we come with you to Palawan?" I said. I put all my courage in those simple words, hoping to make him feel some hints from me.

I wasn't wrong. His face darkened, and I know I saw his breathing became fast. some beads of sweat also starts to show up on his forehead.
