I kept circling my thumbs together and shaking my left leg at a moderate pace. My head rested against the window as the AC kept us cool. I was thinking about texting her, but she's probably driving. Maybe I should, but then again, maybe I shouldn't. I mean we kissed, that happened, and it was amazing. Literally, it was something out of a movie. Then again, I leave for school in a month and a half. There I go worrying too much again; the struggle never ends. I really need to be more like Harley, I really need-
"If you don't stop shaking your damn leg," Jay started, as he continued to drive. "I'm going to kick you out of a moving car."
"My bad, just a little nervous I guess."
"Well stop all of that, girls don't like to see nervous men."
"So how does Amy deal with it?"
He punched me on the leg, and I was about to retaliate when I decided it was probably a good idea not to attack the driver.
"Anyway dick head, I'm glad you're 'hanging out' with Harley more."
"Yeah..... Me too."
We pulled up to movie theater, but I couldn't see Harley's car, or Steve's for that matter. Oh well, I can just call them.
"Thanks man," I said. "Harley or Steve is probably driving me home, so you have more time with Amy now."
"God bless ya!"
"Happy 4th of July, Jay."
"Happy 4th, Grant."
I got out of the sedan and watched it peel out of the parking lot.
"Where are you?" I asked as I walked through the parking lot.
"Right here, next to the black sedan," Steve answered.
For the record there were a million and one black sedans, but I figured that no one else would be waving at me like an idiot, so I walked over. Harley and Indie were supposed to be meeting us here soon to watch the movie. We had all already spent a healthy amount of time barbequing with our families and figured that it would be okay to see our friends. He unlocked his car and we both got in.
"What's up, Grant?" he said as I plopped down into the passenger's seat. "Where's Harley?"
"Picking up Indie, remember?"
"Good. That gives us time to find something else to do."
Oh no.
"And why would we have to do something else?"
"Because this movie is sold out."
Dammit!
"Bro you had one job!"
"I didn't even want to come out tonight!"
Tinges of red began to crawl up his face and his one frustration vein was aching to make an appearance. I mean, I guess I couldn't fault him. I almost did the same thing to Harley the other night, but it was beyond worth it to go out. I just have to convince him; easier said than done.
"Look," I started. "I know being at home with Indie could be nice, but so is a Fourth of July with all of your friends. Moral of the story, you're staying."
"So instead of me getting some, you mean it would better for you to get some."
"Think of it now! Movie, stars, fireworks; the possibilities are endless."
