Chapter 8

"Woah Krista calm down!!"

I slowly turned around, little sparkling droplets of sweat dropping down my face.

I stared into those beautiful, calming eyes that I had dreamed about for several days. HIs gaze held mine and for several moments we just looked at each other.  He looked at me deep in thought.

"I'm sorry Brad...Mr.Wood. I thought you weren't coming." Without saying a word he walked towards the tennis courts. I watched as he methodically bounced the neon tennis balls back and forth with his racket. He didn't need to say a word. I knew he wanted to play.

We played for several hours, intense strokes back and forth. At one moment I felt as if all my sorrows and worries were draining out of me. We were like two souls intertwined into one. Even though we had not spoken one word to each other, his eyes said more.

After three hours the gods seemed to hate us as dark thunder and flashes of lighting started to appear in the sky. "We should leave!"I shouted to Brad.

Silence still loomed between us, yet it wasn't awkward. I could feel the warmth emitting from his body, spreading warmth throughout my shivering body.

Before we parted ways his hand reached toward mine. "I'm sorry I was late, my dog passed away. I didn't want you to think I stood you up or anything. I enjoyed playing with you today."

The tiny droplets of rain danced as he walked away. I stood there, staring at the path he took. His footprints were perfectly pressed into the dark dirt path. I stooped down and pressed my fingers hard into the cold wet dirt. I gently brushed my fingers into my lips and closed my eyes. Tiny buds blossomed in my heart. Water dripped down my cheeks, intertwined with my tears. I promised myself that I would never let him go. Never.
