Chapter 13

"Krista? Are you awake honey?" My mom asked from downstairs. My brain started to panic. My mom was home earlier than I expected...and my teacher was sitting in my bedroom.

I quickly pointed to my large closet as Mr. Wood runs to hide. "Don't say a word." I whispered to him.

I could hear my mom walking up the stairs. I quickly put my hair in a ponytail and wiped off my makeup before covering myself with my blanket.

My mom walked into my room. "Hey honey, I thought I saw a light in your room. It's already 2:30 a.m. you need some sleep!" She said. She ruffles my hair with her hand. Suddenly she freezes. "Krista, who's socks are those?" She said, as she peers at the floor near my bed. The woman noticed everything I swear.

I had forgotten that Mr. Wood had taken off his socks when we were laying in my bed. My mind raced to think of something quickly. "Sarah came over to drop off a book that she had borrowed from me, and she decided to chill with me for a bit before she left. We were painting our nails and I guess she forgot her socks!" I said, looking dead straight at her to not seem suspicious. Sarah was my tallest friend, so I hope my mom wouldn't question the large sized socks.

My mom looked at me for a second, as if trying to get me to say something else. She finally nodded and closed my bedroom door.

I let our a sigh of relief, but there was still one problem. How was I supposed to get Brad out of my room? The only positive was that my mom was a deep sleeper and once she knocked out she was OUT.

Brad slowly opened my closet, giving me a thumbs up sign to ask if it was okay to come out. I heard my mom close her bedroom door and nodded, putting my hands to my lips in a "stay quiet" motion.

He slowly crept towards me until we were so close that I could feel his steady breathing. I know we had to stop, but I wanted our time to last at least till tonight. I put both of my arms around him, knowing that he wouldn't stop me, and stood on my toes so that I could kiss him. He squeezed me tightly, realizing that this would probably be our last time together, picking me up in his strong arms as I pressed my face into his. His slight stubble grazed my smooth face. I loved the feeling. After a few minutes,  as much as I hated doing this, I put myself back down. If my mom caught us it would be the end for both of us.

"Alright" I whispered. "We're going to walk quietly downstairs and you're going to leave through the back door. I'm pretty sure my mom is asleep." He nodded quickly.

I slowly opened my door and we both quietly walked out, taking time with each step down the stairs.

We were halfway to the backdoor when suddenly I heard the door open from upstairs. I could hear my mom walking down the stairs as I mouth "go!" to Brad who ran quietly to the back door, quickly letting himself out just as my  mom turns on the kitchen light.

"Hey honey I didn't know you were downstairs!" My mom gasped, as I startled her. "Oh yeah, I was just getting a glass of water." I said, hoping she wouldn't press on.

"Oh ok! Silly me, I left my phone charger downstairs." She said, grabbing her phone charger that was sitting on the kitchen counter. I mentally breathed a sigh of relief knowing that she didn't come down because she heard us.

I waited until she went back upstairs and closed her door before letting myself out the back door. The night air was cool and the stars were crystal clear among the dark velvet night. A part of me was hoping that he hadn't left yet, but I didn't see any sign of him.

I looked up at the illuminating moon, my heart full as I gazed up at the tiny speckled craters. Suddenly a hand grabbed and pulled me under our jasmine tree that sits near the side of our house.

"What are you still doing here?" I asked Brad, his face glowing under the moonlight. "I just wanted to make sure everything was okay with your mom." He whispered, before planting a kiss on my lips. "Everything is fine, she was just getting her phone charger" I said giggling. "And I thought we decided to not be intimate with each other?" I asked, even though I was secretly thrilled. He groaned loudly, his eyes having a hunger that scared and excited me. He wanted me.

"One last kiss" he whispered, before grabbing my hips and pulling me in towards him.

I laid in bed thinking about everything that happened. Somehow my drunk self led me to make out with my student teacher. Who also ended up having feelings for me? It seemed so unreal yet he was in my bedroom just a few hours ago.

I sighed, closing my eyes, remembering the way he looked at me, trying to control himself as much as he could. I licked my lips, hoping to have the traces of his taste still lingering on mine.

"beep" my phone lit up with a text. It was Brad. "I know I'm not supposed to say this, but I miss you already. I crave you and I need to stop this. I just want to give you a heads up that I'm going to try to avoid you as much as possible and limit our contact during gym class because I'll want you every time I see you. I can't lose my job. I'm sorry."

My heart fluttered. He craved me? I made this beautiful man weak? As much as I understood that he was going to avoid me, and that I needed to avoid him, a part of me was thrilled that I made him crave me, even though I wanted him just as much.

I closed my eyes, trying to get a little sleep. I was  not looking forward to gym class on Monday.
