"Lily, I, don't know what else you want from me," Lily can hear the desperation in James' usually confident voice echoing around the empty corridor. Sleeping paintings are snoring loudly, lines of dribble staining the paintings. . "I have literally done everything for you, embarrassed myself infront of my friends, actually listened in class. Shit. i don't know what else to do."
Thoughts are flying around Lily's mind like spaceships hurtling through space. Can she confess her love to the boy of her dreams?
"James, it isn't you, I've never been in a real relationship and you, you're James Freaking Potter! You've probably had like a thousand girlfriends. And what if once we are together then you get tired of me and then what the hell do i do?"
James' eyes are as wide as plates.
"You, you would go out with me?" Lily's face is burning red, nearly matching her hair. James' smile couldn't be larger. Slowly, but surely, a salty tear starts to fall down her smooth cheek. The smile on James' face falters. What the hell does he do now? The girl of his dreams just said that she might go out with him and she starts to cry.
"Lily, it's ok. I don't want to pressure you into anything, oh my gosh please stop crying!" James' tanned hand gently wipes the rolling tears from Lily's face. "Her, beautiful, heck, you still look beautiful when you're crying."
"I'm not what you think I am. I'm just another geek sitting in the library without any friends. You think I'm some exotic, beautiful princess but I'm not, I'm really not. Please just go find some other girl you actually deserve." Lily's voice starts to crack so she walks away, slowly, without looking back. A pained moan escaped from James' frowning mouth.
Of course James' didn't think she was exotic, exotic was lush black locks, hourglass figures. Not Lily. Lily is different. Piercing green eyes, tangled auburn hair framing her pale face.
The tears weren't stopping, the picture of James' heartbroken face w\isn't an unfamiliar sight for Lily. She has rejected him countless times before, all through first, second, third and fourth year. The he stopped in fifth year. His lingering looks followed Lily everywhere in sixth year. And then, seventh year, the lingering looks started to be mirrored in Lily's face. Her heart started to pick up pace every time James walked past Lily. His boisterous laugh triggered Lily's heart to yearn for his arms around her. Lily started to dream of walks in the park with James, lying with James and just about everything with James. But James had stopped. Stopped asking her out, stopped sitting net to her and Lily really missed James. She misses him now and she only just saw him. She has to get him back. The thought is solid yearning in her heart, soul and brain.
She goes to Sirius first.
"Um, Sirius? Do you know where James is? I really need to see him, I really want to see him." Sirius can see the tear tracks down Lily's face, she's wringing her hands in her shirt and biting her pale pink lips.
"What did he do? I can kick his ass if you want me to, do you want that?" The look of horror on Lily's face told im all that he neede to know. "You finally fell for him, huh? Too gorgeous for his own good I like to say. Sorry, he'll be in the library."
Confused, Lily starts to walk down to the library. The library has always been her place, to get away from everyone and everything. She has only ever seen James there a few times and he always ended up getting kicked out by the ancient librarian.
When she gets to the library she can see a globe of light floating at a table. A slumped figure is in front of the light.
"James," the body jerks up as if he s waking up from a deep sleep. " Um, I'm really sorry for leaving you out there. I should have been honest and true to my heart not my brain because my brain can seriously be a bit, slightly, really thick sometimes." Lily paused as she sees the look of shock plastered on James' face. "Sorry, I'm rambling. You are everything I have ever imagined in a boyfrine dnad I really should have seen this earlier I was just so caught in the face that you are James Freaking Potter and you are basically as hot a greek god. And I'm just Lily, plain Lily."
James starts to stand when she starts to talk and is now holding her cold hands in his warm hands.
"Just plain Lily?" A rosy red blush spills over Lily's face. A cheeky grin grows onto James' happy face. "Plain? Seriously. You are the most amazing person I have ever met, like, ever. I'm just a quidditch boy, maybe some good grades and a nice head of hair but, trust me, I am nothing compared to you!" James' voice starts to rise, a flush of something, love or anger, rises up his neck. "Sorry, you've probably heard this all before." Lily's mouth is wide open in shock. Tears start to run down her cheek again but she isn't sad, her smile is mirrored on James' face.
"I really, really, really, really like you, James Freaking Potter!" She says it loudly because, what the hell? She wants everyone to know. She wants everyone t know that, finally James is hes.
"Well, that' convenient."
"Why?"
"Well, I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really," James inhales deaply to regain his breath, "really, really, really like you!" By the end James is shouting, his voice is hoarse but that's ok because Lily likes him, finally, officially. "Um, Lily, do you want to go out with me?"
Lily gently takes James' hand in hers. Slowly she looks up into his eyes, drawing out the moment which they have both been waiting for. "Ok,"
"Ok? Just ok, seriously I think I at least deserve a yeah, or certainly my lady!" Her smiling lips cut him off. He pauses for a second debating whether or not he should continue arguing but Lily's grinning lips stop him and he finally gives in to the impulse in his heart. His lips start to move against hers and both of their grins are growing. James pulls away first but only to kiss Lily's forehead, and cheek, and neck and everywhere that he can find. Her soft giggles reach his ears.
"So, first date, the kitchens?" Lily's is too busy rubbing her hand against his chest to reply so James picks her up by the waist and carries her to the kitchen.
