The Sadness of Defeat- Moe

Morgan Brian and her uva coach and uswnt coach Steve Swanson.

University of Virginia Cavaliers Women's Soccer Team had just lost against UCLA in penalties in the College Cup Semifinal and Morgan Brian was very upset. She was crying and her USWNT head coach and college coach Steve Swanson saw this and went to her side after a team talk and sending them all to shower and get ready to leave to the hotel.

He wrapped his his left arm around her shoulders and could feel her shaking and she reached up to take the hand around her shoulder and he squeezed it gently showing he was there for her.

He walked her inside whispering in her ear "Moe I'm so proud of you for everything you have accomplished over this year and all of our years together. You are amazing and a great person and soccer player never forget that." He kissed her head gently and as soon as they got into the hallway she dropped to the ground sobbing not wanting to start crying on the field. He helped her up and guided her to a wall and held her close rocking her and soothing her and soon Moe was relaxing and calming down. He hated seeing the midfielder like this. She had accomplished so much in her career and was headed into the draft probably going number 1 he believed in her and he hoped that she made the World Cup team this year.

He calmed her down enough and got up holding her like he was before and guiding her to the locker room knocking saying "everyone decent!!" Danny Collaprico opened to door and said "hey coach yeah we are fine it's just we can't find Moe...oh hey Moe." Moe looked at Danny before saying "Hi Dan-Dan." Danny took Moe from the coach into a huge hug and brought her inside and Steve followed saying "everyone im really proud of you for how you have done this season. Finish up and get to the front of the doors and wait for me and make sure Moe showers and gets ready. She's very upset she might need hugs." Moe looked up finally and smiled and gave her coach a grateful look before grabbing her stuff to change into and went and showered after he left.

Danny sighed and looked at her other teammates before getting her own stuff together and Moe came or dressed and hair in a bun she would wash it at the hotel she had decided. Morgan felt sick and wanted to crawl into her bed back in her condo on campus and just sleep for weeks never leaving except for class unless she had a call up but she knew that would never happen the team who also happen to be her roommates wound the allow that at all.

They got onto the bus after meeting the coaches and curled into seats and just relaxed finally. They would do recovery in the morning before heading back to school.

Steve made sure everyone at the dinner that was provided for them and even helped some eat if they had no energy to do anything. The goalkeepers felt the worst because of not stopping shots but everyone was trying to help them not feel bad about it.

Everyone just became super sad and didn't want to do anything.

That was the sadness of defeat
