The next day Seraphine found herself waiting for Erik to walk through her door and say he stayed but midday came and still nothing. She laughed bitterly to herself and walked to find Charles. She found him with the others minus Erik. She smiled sadly at them all as the group continued walking together. They came across a room with a set of stairs leading upwards.
"Hank turned that radar installation into a transmitter." Hank nodded "It's designed to amplify brainwaves so it could enhance your telepathic powers, help us find other mutants for our division." A voice called out as they stepped into the room "What if they don't want to be found by you?" Charles grinned at the man "Erik. You decided to stay." Erik glanced at Seraphine to see her looking away at the opposite wall, refusing to meet his stare. "If a new species is being discovered, it should be by its own kind. Charles and I find the mutants. No suits."
"First of all, that's my machine out there. Second of all, and much more importantly, this is Charles' decision." He turned to Charles "Charles is fine with the CIA being involved. Isn't that right?" He shook his head frowning "No. I'm sorry, but I'm with Erik. We'll find them alone."
"What if I say no?" Seraphine snickered at the reply "Then good luck using your installation without me." Hank introduced the machine "I call it Cerebro." Seraphine walked up to it in wonder. "As in the Spanish for "brain."" Hank nodded as confirmation. "I love it." Sera whispered in awe. She'd never tell anyone, but she was a massive nerd for cool inventions like cerebro. "Okay, so, the electrodes connect Charles to the transmitter on the roof. When he picks up a mutant, his brain sends a signal through a relay and then the co-ordinates of their location are printed out here."
Charles stepped under cerebro and placed it over his head "What an adorable lab rat you make, Charles." Charles simply chuckled in return "Don't spoil this for me, Erik." Hank questioned Charles again "Are you sure we can't shave your head?" He narrowed his eyes at Hank "Don't touch my hair."
"Okay. It's working!"
Seraphine sighed and walked out of the room all of a sudden feeling a slight temperature rising. This happens sometimes, since her powers involve fire, if she doesn't use them for a long period the fire begins to heat up her body. She breathed out as she fanned her face with her hand, quickly walking outside to release some of the built up fire.
She found a small area and held out her hand in a fist and watched as flames flew from her, instantly cooling her down. She crouched down beside a large tree and watched the flames slowly die down as she breathed in and out rapidly. Not noticing he was even there, Erik sat down beside her next to the tree. "You stayed." He nodded softly. She rested her head on his shoulder as she whispered "Good."
