The King was worried about Arabella but important matters warded him away from her and called him back to the palace.
The troubles of the kingdom beckoned him to leave Arabella sick and in need of him, alone in her house. It sickened him that he had to leave her in that state, that he had to choose the kingdom over her.
Maybe if she had stayed with him at the castle, it would have been better.
He reveled in the fact they were making progress, that she allowed him to feed her. But was that really progress? He wondered.
Seeing her in that state, the King was saddened by the fact even more that she would not allow him to help. If he did not often remind himself it was a small fever, he would run back there immediately.
The King had given her a chaste kiss on her forehead, something he was sure he would pay for later when she was better and more aware. He enjoyed that kiss a little too much due to his denial of his mate.
The King had left Arabella asleep on the sofa and her probable objection had led him not to carry her to her bed or back to his castle.
"Your Highness, I wish to report disrespect at your event." Alpha Lune said to the King. They both were seated in his office.
"Who disrespected you?" The king said snapping back to reality, his attention back to listening to the problems of his subjects.
"Some other Alphas and I want to report Arabella Gardenia." Alpha Daniel said.
"How did she disrespect you?" The King said entertaining himself.
"She blatantly forced me to submit in the arena. I did not agree to fight with a rejected." He said with disgust.
"How do you expect me to punish her?" The King said curiously.
"Prisoned for a month." The Alpha said with maliciousness.
"If you did not agree to the fight, why did you go through with it?" The king asked suspiciously.
"I did not want to abandon the match it would have made me look weak." Alpha David said with disgust.
"You do not have valid reasons for punishment for her behavior. It is dismissed as it was a sparring session." The King said passively.
Alpha Lune's hands fisted in anger and the veins on his arms bulged out, "of course my king, you know what is best." He said.
"If there is not anything else, you are dismissed." The King said thinking back to Arabella.
Alpha Lune stood up and bowed before leaving the King's chambers. He grudgingly walked out with his arms folded in pretentious respect.
The King was still worried about Arabella. He feared she would never accept him, he had made a sly decision to tell her parent they were mates, in hopes of them encouraging Arabella to accept him.
The King knew Arabella wouldn't disrespect him in front of her parents. He wanted her to meet his mother and his sister too.
The King had suddenly had had an idea earlier which he voiced to Vladimir in addition to the jogging.
He quickly wrote something on a paper and gave it to one of his trusty deltas.
Arabella awoke the next day in the sofa feeling much better. She could remember the King aiding to her yesterday, her body fluttered with remembrance and gratefulness.
Getting up from the sofa, she removed the blanket that the King had placed on her and walked to the bedroom. Her entire house smelt of his powerful essence. Before climbing the stairs, she spotted a letter on the mat behind her door.
Walking to the door she collected the letter, opening it, it too smelt of the King. It read:
Dear Arabella Gardenia,
The former Queen requests your presence in her chambers today at nine hours in the morning. She wishes to discuss a private matter with you. Dress code is formal.
Thank you.
Arabella looked at the date it was addressed with today's date. It was only seven and Arabella didn't have to guess what this matter was about. Grudgingly she showered and dressed in a burgundy fit and flare dress that stopped below her knee. A pair of black stilettos graced her heels in her effort to dress professionally.
Walking into her kitchen, she fixed herself some coffee, which smelt of the King too,
before she left at a quarter to nine. Getting into her car she was bombarded with the scent of the King once more and it was angering her more and more. Gripping the steering shell with excessive force she drove to the castle in five minutes. She drove into the compound and gave the keys to a valet.
Walking into the castle she was directed to a room which was supposedly the King's mother's. Knocking on the door, Arabella was answered with a 'Come in'.
Entering the room, Arabella was met with a beautiful woman who was supposedly the King's mother and the King dressed in a black suit, sitting next to her in all his glory.
His eyes seemed to penetrate her as he looked at her with admiration, his mother too looked at her but with a different emotion.
"Greetings Arabella. I am so glad you came," The King's mother said, "Xavier has told me so much about you."
"Hello Arabella." The King said with a ghost of a smile on his face.
