Song: Devotion By:Coleman Hell
Winters p.o.v
2:00am

I looked up at the clock for what seemed like the hundredth time today. I was counting down the minutes that I had left until I got to go home and finally relax. It's been a long day, and I had to preform two surgeries and about 10 random cases. That was until I heard shouting. I ran like my life depended on it and that's when I saw the scene in front of me; Four guys were standing in front of the doors, holding a bloody man in their arms.

That's when I knew that it was going to be a long night. "Bring him over here, and hurry!"I called to the guys who were still standing there, shouting.

They brought the guy they were holding and laid him down on the stretcher. That's when I noticed their  jackets, which said on the back: " The Liberty Bikers" and I just knew right there not to ask anymore questions then I needed to. The guy they brought in did look really familiar. I wondered where I saw him before, but he could just have one of those faces.

Two nurses came and helped me push the man into a room to get him into surgery so we didn't lose him. I could tell that he was already losing a lot of blood so far. I pull of his leather jacket and cut open his shirt that he was wearing to only reveal two bullet holes. One in his lower torso and one also near his right shoulder.

The shoulder one looked like it went clean through, but the one near his lower torso looked like it still had the bullet in him. "Casey, I need you to patch up his arm, while I try and get this bullet out." I called to her, and she nodded her head and got to work.

-------------------------3 hours later-------------------------

The surgery went smoothly, surprising me ,cause he did lose a lot of blood. I started walking towards the waiting room where his friends were all spread out on the couches.
Right when I walked in they all at the same time jumped up and ran towards me and started demanding answers."Okay, hold up. He's alive for now, but he did lose a lot of blood so we're going to have to keep him over night just in case something goes wrong." I said to the four guys standing around me. "Doc, he needs to be out of here by tomorrow... Do you think that's possible?" The one with the black hair asked me. "Honestly,  I don't think he'll be even able to get out of bed for at least a week." I replied. They all looked so heart broken after I said that. Finally, one of them spoke up. "Doc, we need him better and out of here by next week. If not, then we'll still take him.". I knew better then to argue with him because they were dangerous . "Okay,  well I'll see what I can do. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go home. It's been along day.". I walked off before they could say anything. I just needed to get out of there and go home. I grabbed my stuff, and walked out the back door into the cold air of New York. I hopped into my white Jeep Wrangler and drove off.

--30 mins later--
I walked up the front steps of my apartment, thanking my boss for giving me the day off tomorrow because I work extra hours trying to save that man. I slowly walked into the kitchen, setting down my purse and keys while making my way to the bathroom to have my shower. While I was in the shower I thought about the mystery man that came into the hospital with the gun shot wounds. But as soon as I thought of that, I brushed away the idea because he's dangerous and I should try and stay away from him as much as I can. I got out of the shower and walked into my room and got a pair of old running shorts and a baggy t-shirt that I stole from my best friend Parker awhile ago.

I walked back into the kitchen and made myself a sandwich and went to sit on the couch I grab the tv remote and turned on the news. And that's when I heard it: there was a shoot out in some local club called The Sinners and that the cops didn't know who started it yet. I had a pretty good guess.... That it had to do with a certain gun shot victim. I turned the tv off and went to bed, tired from my shift at the hospital and having to stay 3 hours extra but at least I have tomorrow off and I can sleep in.

--------------------------In the morning-------------------------

I woke up with a jolt and looked over and saw my phone ringing. I quickly checked the caller id and sighed when I saw it was my job. I love my job, but it's very tiring and can take a toll on you. I answered the phone and I recognized the person on the other end; it was my boss. "Hello?" I said groggily, still tired.
"Hi Winter. I'm just calling to tell you that the gun shot victim woke up and we need you to come in to help run some tests." He said. I groaned.
"Ok, I'll be there but I'm only staying for a few hours then I'm gone." I said
"I'm totally fine with that." He said then add a quick goodbye, and ended the call. Why did it have to be on my ONE day off?

I slowly walked in to the hospital reviving some "hellos" and "good morning Winter" , but I was too tired to respond. I made my way up to the reception desk on the 2 second floor where I work and I saw my best friend behind the desk.

"Well, don't you look like a ball of sunshine this fine morning!" said Lisa laughing
"Ok, ok.  Laugh all you want, but I'm seriously tired..." I added.
"Isn't it your day off?" she asked.
"Yes it was, but the gun shot victim came in last night, woke up, and needs to be checked up on then I'm free for the rest of the day!" I said.
"Ok well when you get off, come and find me. Me, you, and Parker can go get lunch."
She said, smiling.
"Ok, sounds like a plan." I laughed then walked off to go and do this check up, so I can go.
