Chapter 1

Milyon stepped off of the elevator; she was in her own world. The fact that she was pregnant was a hard one to digest. The timing was all wrong, especially because Carti was in a coma and she was only eighteen. Milyon knew she didn’t have any future plans; she hadn’t been focused on the future lately, just what was happening at that moment.

Milyon didn’t even know what she wanted to be in life, she had no idea what to do next. She was lost. How would she raise a child? She hadn’t even planned on having children for a very long time, at least until she was in her twenties, and had had all the fun she could have with no children. How would she be able to raise any children while they still ahd enemies lurkin'? The shit wasn't even safe. She couldn’t get the thought of being pregnant out of her mind.

DING!

The sound of the elevator stopping brought her out of her thoughts of pregnancy. She stepped off onto the floor Carti’s room was on; Shy had texted Milyon the floor and room number.  Milyon navigated her way through the floor by the signs that hung from the ceiling. When she arrived to her destination, she walked up to the desk in the center of the floor, and asked the receptionist what room Carti was in even though she already knew. She just figured that you had to check in before visiting someone. The lady asked her what her relation was to him, and she replied ‘His girlfriend’. The lady typed something into her computer and then gave Milyon the room number 617. Milyon thanked her, and headed there.

When Milyon reached room 617, she took a deep breath before opening the door. When she did, she pushed it open slowly. When it was all the way opened, she walked through, and let the door close behind her. She saw Carti lying in the hospital bed, with multiple tubes running from his mouth, and nose. She put her hand over her face while she walked near his bed.

Carti looked pale in the face, his facial hair was beginning to blossom and his hair was growing out of its most recent haircut. Milyon was afraid to touch him, she didn’t know what would happen if she did, so she kept her hands on the railings that were on the sides of the bed to support the patient.

Milyon hadn’t even noticed Shy and Mace sitting in the corner of the room, watching her. Shy waved when she saw Milyon look their way, while Mace was typing away at his cellphone. Milyon smiled softly, and returned her attention back to Carti. She hated to see him with the many tubes coming from his body, and all these machines surrounding him. It was too much but if it would keep him alive then, so be it. Milyon inched her hand towards his hands which were placed on his stomach on top of his hospital gown, making him look as though he belonged in a casket rather than a hospital bed.

When Milyon’s hand touched the top of his, she felt a little better. She felt closer to him than she had in the past twenty four hours. She just truly wished that he wasn’t laid up in this fucking hospital bed, it didn’t seem right. She just felt like he looked as though he was in a vulnerable state, she wasn’t used to seeing him so peaceful other than when he was asleep.

She wished she could talk to him but she wouldn’t feel right talking to someone who she knew wouldn’t be able to hear her, or respond. It would be like talking to a brick wall. She probably would have said a few words if Shy and Mace hadn’t been in there but they were, and she wasn’t tripping.

Milyon decided to go have herself a seat. She went to the other side of Carti’s bed where there was a chair placed against the window. Milyon began to think over what she would do if Carti didn’t wake up soon. How would she take care of a baby without its father? She knew she could because a lot of mother’s do it but was she ready? She placed her hand on her stomach through her Michael Kors pea coat, she didn’t see how she would be able to house a child in there, and her stomach was still flat. But she knew that overtime it would grow, adjusting to the baby’s size.
