First.

I leaned back against the thick glass that surrounded my bare body.

My legs never grew weak. The water that filled my container held the weight up for me, relieving the tension in my spine and knees. My eyes were attached to the nearly inaudible television screen which hung on the wall about 10 feet away from my capsule. Sound was almost absent from the dim lit room. It was quite depressing with such limited lighting, although the slight glare from the tv was enough to bring a bit of bright into my fuzzy vision.

Light spilled across a near clock that read 6:50. It was almost time for my morning supplement injection. I was required to get the heavy dose of medicine dispersed into the water tank three times a day to maintain my growth and stabilize my health. Even a pink head like me needed to remain healthy.

My eyelids drooped downwards slowly. Though there was way too much caffeine coursing throughout my overloaded veins, my delirious mind was ready for a rest. I hadn't slept in four days, and my strict patience was almost up. As my eyes struggled to hold themselves up, I decided to stop fighting and give in. It was far too difficult to resist the natural impulse to sleep. I closed my weary eyes and released my muscle tension completely. Then my body collapsed into my usual hump on the cramped metal floor.

I didn't have to worry about waking myself up. The Professor would arrive soon enough to alert me for my medication intake. So I just let myself slip into a state of pure bliss.

Finally, a bit of rest.

A sudden flash of light shone upon my still, unconscious face. The water was cold. My body ached. I felt terrible.

I lifted my gooey eye slits and brought my back up from the glass behind me. Brightness dazzled the room like never before. It covered my thoughts and blocked my sleepy vision. I couldn't detect where it was coming from though.

My eyes still adjusting to the seemingly kindled surroundings. My hands gestured around to feel the not visible quarters. I touched the glass as it was still intact along with the liquid contained inside.

I'd never seen that much light. At least not that I could remember.

But it scared me.

"Professor!", I yelled. The few moments of intense silence gave me a lasting impression that he was not in the room nor was he going to arrive at my frightened yelping. "Professor! Professor, are you here?"

Quiet remained. Not even the sound of the television was heard. The sound of Professor's voice was my source of comfort. Along with the buzz of the tv. But now, both comforting noises were absent. And so was my sense of sanity and reasonable thought.

So I did the first thing that my brain  instructed me to do. That was of course, the next passive thought after screaming bloody murder for my beloved Professor.

I lifted my dry, panicked fist back through the pale water and swung it with one movement; one simple and reckless movement.

My hand made contact with the thick glass surface and a loud shatter rang out into the atmosphere as I fell through the dry air that surrounded my wet body. Free water rushed onto my back and overflowed the spaces around me. Everything was so cold. Glass shards stabs into the sides of my tough skin. Blood poured from my deeply impaled heels. Light continued to blind me. My torso I fell forward uncontrollably into the massive pile of my broken glass tube.

The tube that I'd grown up in. The tube that I called home. I'd never been removed from it. But now, my cozy capsule had been smashed into a thousand pieces.

And with it, I had been released.

***Very short chapter. Sorry about that, but hopefully this gave enough suspense and fascination to make up for it. I'll try to create longer ones in the future. Comment your feedback and keep reading! Thank you!***
