Third.
My fingers swept across the unfamiliar feeling plant.
It was grass. It was green. A vibrant green. It was even more perfect than I'd imagined.
All of the sudden, something dropped on top of me from inside the black tunnel; and I was veiled in a flowy fabric.
I reached up and snatched the clothing from my face. It was my white colored satin robe. The one that stayed in its glass case for years and years. The one that I'd eventually wear.
I distinctly remember the times that Professor would come in and offer me some comfort. We'd talk about everything for hours. I learned so much from him. He spoke about outer space, animals, land forms, medicine. But our conversations would always lead back to the same subject over and over again.
"When will I get to step outside?", I'd wonder aloud.
He'd remain silent at my question, only pointing at a glass case in the corner of the room that held my satin robe.
"You'll know one day. I'll give you your robe when it's time to leave. But for now..." Then he would lean in and kiss the top of my forehead through my tube. "I need you to stay here."
As my memory passed, a tear slid down my cheek. There's a first time for all things, even crying.
I slipped my arms into the silky sleeves and draped the clothing around myself. I felt much warmer.
I smiled at the new sensation when suddenly a dark shape swept across the ground beside me. I flinched back with a rush of adrenalin.
"Hello. Uh, you're not supposed to be here," a voice sounded from above. I peered up at the stranger. A man with brown skin. He was very scrawny and tall with a blue uniform on. A person. I had finally met someone. Someone apart from Professor.
I shot up onto my feet in excitement, ready to greet him only to fall back down again. I really had to get used to my legs.
"Sorry. Umm," I worked my way up gradually. When I finally reached a stationary position, I glanced back into his eyes.
He stared at me with a befuddled frown.
"Are you alright miss?", he questioned.
"Umm," I inspected my hands and feet with a brief look. "Yes! I belief so." My uncertain smile seemed to confound him a bit.
He cleared his throat. "Alright then. Uh, we should get you out of this area. It's private property."
I shook my head in disagreement.
"But it's so nice over here. Why should we leave?" He pointed out into the distance at a large rock cliff not too far from us, and I followed his gaze.
"It's nice over there too. Why don't you go and have a little hike? You know, to occupy your low attention span," he smirked off to the side.
I wasn't stupid. I could easily decipher a witty, sarcastic remark as much as the next person. Although he could probably beg to differ.
"Excuse me sir while I go off and ignore your rude attitude. You have no right to comment on me, no right at all. You are an unfortunate first find. Very unfortunate." And with that I turned back and began walking towards the massive rock hills.
"Wait a second," he grabbed my wrist and pulled me his way abruptly.
"Excuse me?! What do you want?" I didn't know what to say in times of possible danger, as discovered earlier. What was to come of this situation?
