Mia's parents always find fault with her. They often find excuses to smack her or punch her. In the past, they have broken Mia's glasses and have gave her a black eye, but frequently hit Mia's head, so that no one can see her injuries.
Mia is desperately unhappy. She has tried running home several times, but she always ends up going back. She is afraid to talk to people about her experiences because she thinks people will laugh at her. Mia does not want to die, but she feels that the only way out of her abuse, is to kill herself.
