Aatmaja, who is 11 years old, works in a factory in India. She starts work at 4 o'clock in the morning and works 12 hours a day. Her work is exhausting, and the factory is dirty and noisy. Aatmaja has not got a bedroom- or even a bed. She is forced to sleep on the grimy factory floor, between the heavy machines.
She only has rice to eat, and she has to pay her boss for this. Aatmaja only gets to see her family once a week, and she misses them dreadfully. She dreams of living at home and going to school.
