"I know" she said
"You know what?" I asked confused.
"About 9th grade" she said. My whole body tensed up. "How?" I asked. She smiled slightly.
"When you told me your name, well actually when you first came back and I saw you, I could never forget about my first love" she confessed looking into my eyes still holding me close.
"Why didn't you say anything when you found out?" I asked. "Lets go inside and discuss this" I nodded because I wanted to know her reason.
She held my hand leading me inside and towards what I'm guessing was her room. I was right when she opened the door. She lead us over to her bed and we took a seat.
She sighed and looked over to me "I was scared that if I told you, you would run off because of our past, but believe me when I say-" she grabbed my hand intertwining our fingers together.
"-that person was not me at all, I let my jealousy get the best of me, when you were dancing with Latoya that night I got so angry, because It felt like I lost you" she looked down as her eyes began to water.
Another fact about Tati she doesn't like when people see her cry. I touched her chin making her look at me. I wiped her face "I forgive you, I forgave you years ago" I said sincerely.
I pecked her lips and pulled away but she pulled me back in. This kiss was slow and full of sorrow but also forgiveness.
We pulled away when air became a problem. I pulled her close holding her as she buried her face in my neck. I felt my phone buzz. I pulled it out to see a text from my Aunt.
Aunt C
Just wanted to check up on you before I headed to bed, I hope you had fun and I want to see some pictures young lady. I will drop Makai off tomorrow morning
I looked at the time to see it was going on 2am. I put my phone away and looked down to see a sleeping Tati.
I smiled and picked up laying her on her bed. I took her shoes off and put the covers over her and kissed her forehead.
"Goodnight Princess" I whispered and walked out her house and made my way home.
...
I woke up to a little body jumping on top of me. I looked up to see a smiling happy Makai.
"Hey lil man, you had fun over Aunties house?" I asked smiling up at him. He nodded laying his head on my chest. I wrapped my arms around him running my hands through his hair that needs to be done.
I looked up to see my Aunt standing in the doorway smiling at us.
"Thank you for watching him Auntie" I smiled looking down at a now sleeping Makai.
"Of course, how was your night?" She asked. "Best night ever" my smiled got wider as memories of last night came to mind.
"That's good, I brought some McDonalds breakfast for you two. Makai ate half of his already I put it in the microwave" she said. I thanked her and she left out a few minutes later after looking at the pictures of last night I had on my phone.
