‘’Addie do you have everything? We’re leaving in 5 minutes!’’ Mom shouted me from downstairs. Today was the day I leave, I’m moving to Australia to study dance at The University of Melbourne. I was nervous but excited, I had never been away from my parents for more than 2 days, so moving to the other side of the world for 3 or more years was very daunting but, I was determined to do this, for me. I had never wanted anything more as a child than to be a dancer, it has always been my goal in life; Mom said I could dance before I could walk and I probably could, I’ve been dancing for as long as I can remember.
I’m Adrienne by the way, Adrienne Martinez but my parents call me Addie and my friends call me Rienne, it’s just the way it’s always been. I’m 18 years old, half American half Spanish, I have long wavy blonde hair, blue eyes and I’m about 5’6.
‘’Addie hurry up we’re leaving!’’ Mom shouted me again.
‘’Coming, 2 seconds.’’ I grabbed my phone, took one last look at my room, at the 4 bare walls no furniture apart from my bed and a small table, my head circled around the room once more, taking in all the memories that hit me as I realised this is it, I’m leaving. I’m going to miss everyone like crazy but I can’t wait for this journey to begin. I ran downstairs and my Mom and Dad had already put everything in the car, Mom was definitely fighting back the tears, she spent our whole summer vacation trying to persuade me to stay at study in America but I was set on Australia, I wanted a different lifestyle and wanted completely new people in my life I was so bored with home I was totally ready for a fresh start.
I’ll definitely miss Amelia the most, she has been my best friend since kindergarten. Obviously I will miss Mason my on/off boyfriend. At the minute we weren’t together because we thought it would be too hard to keep up a long distance relationship and I would have so much pressure trying to make a relationship work with all my studies, don’t get me wrong I love him to bits, but I needed a break for my owns sake.
We had just left my house and were now on our journey to the airport, I was just taking in the last scenery of America that I will see for a while now, I was going to miss this place but all I could think was get me on that plane! We we’re about half an hour away from the airport when I received a text from Mason that read:
From Mason:
Hey Rienne, can’t believe you’re leaving today I hope everything goes okay. Make sure you message me as soon as you land so I know you got there safe! Have an amazing time, don’t forget about me too soon:p. Hopefully I’ll be able to come and visit you soon once you’re all settled in. Love you millions beautiful, Mase xxx
To Mason:
Aw babe, I’m going to miss you so much! And of course I will! I’m sure I will, can’t wait to see you again hopefully it’s not too long! Love you too xx
I really was going to miss Mason, more than I probably know myself but I’m sure he’ll visit as soon as he can, I just hope his ex-girlfriend Darla doesn’t go anywhere near him. She had tried to break us up so many times before, she was such a bitch. I know me and Mason weren’t together but he knows I’ll wait for him after all he is my first love and I want him to be my only love as cliché as it sounds I honestly couldn’t see myself with anyone else but him.
We arrived at the airport 2 hours before my flight was due. I couldn’t believe that in 2 hours’ time I would be leaving America and flying to the other side of the world. I couldn’t help but think am I ready for this? Truth is I didn’t know whether I was ready for this, but I was determined to make it happen. We looked around in all the different stores and bought some breakfast from a small café in the airport.
