~ AGE 23 ~

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL

There are several things in my life I have never gotten used to. First on the list is waking up early. I worked at the Cafe in Druham during whole time I spent there, and I always picked up morning shifts. At first they were only ones available, and later on because I had a huge crush on the star of basketball team who used to stop by every morning, 6 a.m. sharp. I was never a morning person, but the money was fine, so I stuck with it.

Right next on the list was jet lag. I was traveling for month at the time, travelled around the world. I never understood how drivers could manage to travel from Europe to Asia and just morning later drive 200 miler per hour. That was not my thing. But there I was, pursued to go around the world with the fastest circus, just to support my best friend.

Two days after we arrived to Brazil, I was standing at the airport once again, No, I wasn't leaving, I was waiting another friend to join me.

''Preciosa! You have no idea how much I missed you!'' my former room mate, and my dear friend, greeted me at the arrivals gate.

''It's been so long!'' I hugged Rosalida, referring to past 4 months we haven't seen each other.

''How are they? What does it look like? You've been on the road like forever!'' Rosalinda was excited to hear everything about my new life.

''This is... Amazing. I get to spend so much time around cars, and to talk with people who I genuinely admire. But that's not what you asked me... I spend most of my time with Fernando and I am thankful for that, this is the best time of my life, except the part I spent with you. I get along with Jesnon, even though he despises us a bit, for kicking him out of the team once. Juan Pablo is amazing, but he knows that I admire sir Frank and his team, and by the way - Connie is nice too. They're all fine, I just can't stand that brat, Kimi Raikkonen. He's complete ass, and he drinks. A lot.'' I told her about my time on the road.

''Kimi is hot, but too pale for you.''

''Kimi is a jerk, trust me.'' I hit some rough ends with Kimi during the season.

Brazil was the one track I always admired. I loved the fact it was the one to decide the season so often. Well, during the reign of Schumacher it was rarely the case, but yet again, I loved it. Season 2005 I spent on the road. Every race, every track. I graduated a year earlier, I waited for Rosalinda to finish her studies, too. I could've done it even before, but I didn't want to leave her alone. We had some good times together, in our dorm room at the Duke Campus. She was a great friend.

We left Durham together, I was proud owner of a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and my beloved Colombian friend was an MD. She was accepted for an internship back in her home town, and set to leave me right after graduation.

I, on the other hand, had no idea what to do with my life. I had my dream, but I knew there is no chance in this world I would get into Formula One without any working experience. I had some ideas, but none of them seemed acceptable.

On the day of my graduation, I stood at the airport, waiting for my family to arrive. Even tough I had everything planned, Fernando said he couldn't come. It broke my heart, but I knew he would if he could. But once again, he surprised me. Actually he did a bit on purpose, but he always said that the way I smiled at the airport when I saw him was priceless.

My parents didn't come. Paris was the one that came along side my best friend, she told me that mom and dad had some stuff to do. Later on I found out that Dublin auditioned for some talent show, millionth time in a row, and they stayed home to support her.
