Prologue
Do you ever think about mirrors? They are everywhere on Earth, they're even underwater. On your phone, in your purse, in bathrooms, in cars, in your house, in your bedroom. In fact, there is a mirror near where you are, right now, as you read this, isn't there? Look up, look around. If it isn't a mirror, then it's a reflection.
And that might even be worse.
What if I told you that mirrors aren't just objects? That they aren't even everyday pieces of reflective glass? That, even now, you're being watched? That, in a way, you are being protected. Right now.
Look back at that mirror, the one near you, an innocent civilian.
Did you see something move, something in the corner of the mirror, just out of sight? You thought you saw something there, didn't you, and then you stared right where it was, and now you see nothing. You wave it off. You've had too much coffee this morning, you stayed up too late last night, heck, you might even go on to suggest your eyes were going to fast and it was just a glitch of your brain trying to catch up.
You've got one thing right. It WAS a glitch. Just not yours.
What if I told you that there was a parrallel world, a world connected to ours? Not a copy of Earth, this world is cleaner, it's got beautiful places, more than one dominant species, even. The planet's name is Dreswade. The way we're connected is quite genius, actually, genius and simple. Who would question them? Who would question something that appears on every continent, in every country, in every house?
Who would question the existance of mirrors?
I know I never did. Now I can't think of anything else but the existance of mirrors. It was just a normal day, I lived a normal life. I was sixteen years old. I never thought that mirrors, oh those totally blasted, everyday THINGS could ruin my life, ruin everyone's life.
And I'm the only one who can stop it.
Hello. My name is Rose McGruffy.
I'm the only human on the planet Dreswade.
