Maio's dad walked over to the three of us quickly, gave me a questioning glance, and said, "Who is this?"

"This is Rose, Father. But that's not important right now," said Maio, distractedly, visibly getting agravated,"What happened to the Trans mirror?!?"

"Maio," said his father, dragging his gaze from me over to him with a strange look. "How is it that you have aquired a human in the short time since I have seen you last?"

Maio gave his dad a small smile.

"I was wondering how long it would take you to notice her blood," he said, with a vague gesture to my neck at the place Jasiana had cut me."but you are avoiding the question."

The man sighed. "Yes, I suppose I am. Very well. Firstly, is your new friend considored trust-worthy?"

Jasiana laughed, and quickly covered her mouth.

"Father," she said, after the giggles had ceased, "She hasn't yet been here thirty minutes. She just got here, I doubt she has had time to give alligence to any enemy of yours." I glanced at her; I hadn't expected her to defend me.

"Dad!" Maio pointed at the Trans mirror.

Their dad raised both his hands in surrender.

"We don't know."

.....

Maio and his dad went off into a corner and whispered. I looked up at the mirror, all cracked and broken, my ticket home.

"What does this mean?" I turned to Jasiana. She raised an eyebrow, like I had asked her about something commonplace. "Can we still use this?"

"Shush," she lowered her voice. We had attracted the people who were working in the mirror's attention. "No. When a Trans mirror is broken, it is disconnected from the mirrorsystem."

"But I used-"

"BE SILENT," Jasiana clapped her hand around my mouth. Shocked, I stared into her eyes, which were crackling with electricity. Literally, I could see sparks coming out of her eyes. She took a deep breath, and the sparks died down, but I could still see the ferocity in her eyes. "You know not what you are saying. One slip of your...heiritage,"she spat," and you could kill all of us, including your self, so BE QUIET." The workers went back to what they were doing.

I gritted my teeth as she removed her hand.

"WHAT!?!"

Everyone in the throne room turned to face Maio as he looked at his father with a look of utter shock. His dad whispered something to him quickly, with Maio whispering back furiously. It looked like they were arguing. Maio looked over at me with that miles-away look that he got when ever he was thinking, like he was seeing right through me. He lowered his head. His dad laid a hand on Maio's shoulder, then went over to the workers. As he passed me, I saw the tips of his pointed ears sticking out of his golden hair.

"Listen up!" Said Jasiana's dad regally. All the workers stopped what they were doing and saluted the sibling's father.

"Your Highness!" Their collective voices rang out.

"An urgent matter has come to my attention and I require all of you to leave my throne room," Maio's dad said dismissively, and all the workers gathered their equiptment and left the room.

Maio walked over to us, his head still hanging. When he reached us, he placed a hand on my shoulder and looked me in the eyes.

"Follow my lead," he said, barely moving his lips. He was talking so quietly I almost couldn't hear him. "Pretend you're talking to me."
