"A friend..." By: Jules L. Gonzales

The boy who has eyes of the grayish-blue,

The amount of times I've got lost in them he has no clue.

His voice like the ocean that if you hear it too long it's likely you'll drown,

The way I think of him so highly he might as well wear a crown.

He's the one everyone goes to on their bad day,

His heart cannot handle it but he will not say.

He wishes to save the world even if it's by himself,

So he listens to the problem and puts his heart away on a shelf.

His mind is like a wonderful book in which every chapter is a gift,

And if I had to live without reading it all my mind would form a rift.

And I can ensure you that the first time we ever kissed,

It really was something of complete and suddened bliss.

And the way he talks about history as if the night's stars are among us,

I swear it's as if I'm listening to the world's most beautiful chorus.

I think I will always remember that his favorite color is green like the leaves of the forests,

And I'm going to try and help him through his tough times so that there's no cuts left on his wrists.

I wish he would see me the way I see him as if there's nothing else around,

And ever since I told him how I felt about him it feels like I'm having a breakdown.

I hope one day he sees how hard it's for me to watch him fighting though the pain,

And when he won't listen to me when I say I love him because yes I really do it drives me insane.

And it's hard to watch him try and juggle the world's threats like he's the only one who can,

And I get that it's just who he is as a human but I can tell you he's amazing but he's not batman.

Yeah I know he's no superhero but to me he's the strongest person I know,

Not because he doesn't hurt but he uses his pain to understand others even if he doesn't let it show.

But even strong people breakdown sometimes when they can't take it anymore,

The strongest tend to cut up and bruise their skin till they are sore.

Sometimes even the strong need help through the pain but they might not say,

And sometimes the strong can't believe enough to sit down and pray.

Sometimes the strong don't wanna live to see another day,

Sometimes they wanna give up so bad they won't listen to a word you have to say.

Sometimes even though we may not see even the strongest can fall weak,

And you may  have to be the beacon in their sea but don't you dare blink.

Because if you were to blink you could miss a simple smile,

And you could miss their heart beating so fast as if they ran five miles.

Or you'll miss that moment when everything is clear for them again,

Or you could miss the times it's so bad that his mind is like a hurricane.

I don't want to ever miss a thing that happens in his life,

And I wish that him opening up to me was a rife.

And I wish that I could use my camera to catch every moment,

Because every time I see him it's as if he moves in perfect movement.

I can tell that he can't take all the pain alone,

But he probably thinks he can do it on his own.

And getting him to talk I swear it's like you have a certain token,

Because he's doesn't want to admit to the reasons why he's broken.

And he constantly tends to put his heart on loan,

Because he's afraid that one day he'll be disowned.

And I believe he doesn't think he's any good for anyone to love,

But I do and if it wasn't for him I'd be dancing with the angels above.

I'm not saying he saved me but he did help,

So that I could help save me from myself.

And I'll admit that you could say,

That the boy with grayish-blue makes my day.
