"Why are you leaving?" She asked, tears running down her face.
"I have to darling." He replied stroking her hair softly.
"But I don't want you to go." Her small blue eyes filled with tears and her bottom lip quivered. His eyes filled up and they embraced tightly.
"I will miss you too but I will find you soon baby. I promise."

Lucy twirled her finger in the telephone wire.
"Yes. That's fine. I will be there right away. Ok. Yes. Thank you. Goodbye." She hung up the phone and walked through to the living room where her roommate Chloe was draped over the sofa. She raised her head and grunted in greeting. When receiving no grunt in reply she sat up and gestured to the seat beside her.
"What's up?"
"Do you remember Granddad?" Lucy asked and when receiving a nod continued. "Well he went away to Memphis to open up that new diner and it's been open for a while now. He was just about to get ready to come home when he suffered from a heart attack and has been hospitalised. I am going up there to see him and to look after the diner while he's gone."
Chloe placed an arm around her shoulders and gave a quick squeeze.
"If your going then I'm coming too." She said and Lucy gave her a grateful smile.

"OMG remind me never to do that again." Lucy said as she put her bags on to the floor next to the door.
"Tell me about it." Chloe said and threw her bags on to the bed.
"I don't know what you're complaining about! You fell asleep and didn't have to sit next to that man that kept getting in my personal space!"
"In my defence it was a very restless sleep." Chloe said and dropped on to the bed next to her bags.
Lucy just rolled her eyes and made her way downstairs. The apartment they were using was above the diner and had a living room, a bedroom and a small kitchen. It wasn't all that big but it would do as they were only staying there for a little while, hopefully.
Standing behind the bar she began to familiarise herself with the machines and where everything was. There was a milkshake machine, an oven, a coffee machine and a small fridge. She prepared herself a hot chocolate. The familiar routine helped take her mind off her Granddad and her homesickness.
There was a small tinkling noise and she looked up sharply. In the doorway was an older lady carrying a large basket. She waddled in to the room and dumped the basket down on one of the tables.
"Hello Dearie." She said in a kind voice. Lucy walked towards her and the lady grabbed her in a bone crushing hug. "Your Granddad has told me so much about you. I brought this. It's not much but it should help you get started."
Lucy looked inside the basket. It was overflowing with food and other useful items. Bread, milk, cakes, cookies, jam, sugar, tea bags, coffee, hot chocolate, candles and other merchandise littered the basket and overflowed on to the table.
"Oh thank you. You didn't have to." Lucy said and all of a sudden footsteps thundered down the stairs. "This is my friend Chloe. She will be staying here with me until Granddad gets better."
The lady smiled and gave Chloe a large hug too. She let go and turned towards the counters. Chloe stood looking dumbstruck. This sent Lucy in to fits of giggles and soon the lady joined in too.
"I'm sorry dearie, I didn't even tell you my name. I'm Mrs Jones and I live just next door above the second hand shop. I met your Granddad when he first moved in here." She started to wipe the counters down and then started towards the door. "I'll just leave you two to get settled in then."
She tottered out of the Diner and around the corner.
"What was that?" Chloe asked.
"I think that was our official introduction to Memphis."
"Oh god." Chloe said and sat down on one of the chairs. She dropped her head to the table and it hit with a thunk. "Why are they all so happy?"
Lucy just laughed.
