The next morning dawned bright and early. Lucy stretched, reaching from the headboard to the foot of the bed. Sighing she relaxed her muscles and stood up slowly. The world spun for a moment but as soon as it righted itself she was off getting ready.
Despite having only hours to pack she had collected quite a variety of clothing, most of them work related. She pulled on a light blue dress and some heels of the same colour. Her hair was tied back in to a bun with a few strands escaping to frame her face.
Wandering in to the living room Lucy found Chloe passed out on the sofa with a half empty beer bottle in hand. It dangled from her fingers, gently brushing the floor if she twitched. Lucy grabbed the bottle from her and tipped the remaining half down the sink. She replaced the liquid with ice tea from the fridge and placed the bottle back on the floor.
After eating a quick breakfast she walked down the stairs and in to the diner. The lights flicked on and Lucy flicked the sign from 'closed' to 'open'. Each machine started up and all she had to do was wait for the early morning customers.
The bell on the door didnt ring once and Lucy began to wipe the sides to occupy herself. After an hour of wiping each side gleamed and so did the floors. It wasnt until the floors had dried that tge bell sounded.
A large man stumbled in to the diner and fell in to one of the stools infront of the till.
"How can I help you?" Lucy asked smiling brightly.
The man mumbled and Lucy craned her head towards him in order to hear what he was saying.
"Im sorry but could you repeat that?" She asked and he looked in to her eyes.
"I said I want a coffee." He growled, eyes squinting against the morning sun.
Lucy nodded and began to work the machines. She handed him his coffee and he gulped it down. His face turned red and he stood up, flexing his muscles.
"You didnt tell me it would be bloody hot." He growled and as he lent over the counter.
The man's foul breath fogged into Lucys face and she recoiled instinctively. Footsteps sounded from upstairs and the man looked up.
"You got a pretty boy up there?" He growled and Lucy shook her head violently.
A dainty hand pressed against his shoulder and he spun around. Chloe was stood behind him, half dressed and with a horrendous bed head.
"Please just step out of the diner and I wont have to fully wake up."
The man glanced at her and scoffed. "Oh and thats gonna move me isnt it."
Chloe shrugged and pointed to the door. The man swung a fist towards her and Chloe ducked. She grabbed his other arm and then elbowed him in the side. He coughed and bent forward, Chloe again elbowed him in the back and the man fell forwards to the floor. He glanced up, sobered from the fall, and started to stumble towards the door.
"You're a phycopath!" He shouted as he pulled on the door harshly.
"Fully functioning sociopath actually." Chloe called and walked slowly to where Lucy was leaning over the counter. "Are you alright?"
"Fine." She replied and placed her hands to her head. "Just a little shook up is all."
"Well I dont think he will be back here again."
"Brilliant, its the first day of work and we have already lost a customer. What will my Grandad say when he finds out?"
"He will probably laugh. After all I did beat the guy up with about 2 hits."
They both started to giggle and soon were in fits of laughter. Chloe ran up the stairs to get changed and came down in a knee length red dress. It was the same style as Lucy's and they both attached name tags to their fronts.
The rest of the day passed by uneventfully and the diner stayed relativly busy. Once 9 o'clock passed Chloe and Lucy locked up and climbed the stairs.
They ate a bowl of cereal each for dinner and fell asleep instantly.
