23. Labour

"Za-Zayn, it hurts... ahhh..so much", Harry cried in the hospital bed while Zayn held his hand with his one hand and removed the curls from his sweaty forehead with the another. Meanwhile, the doctors were preparing everything

"I know baby, but I promise, you'll be okay. Our babies will be okay.", Zayn assured him with a small voice and place a kiss on his forehead.

"Zayn?", Harry whispered looking straight into Zayn's eyes. Zayn stayed silent, encouraging him to continue.

"I-If something happens to me today, can you...can you promise me you'll be there for them when they'll need a father? I know Niall, Louis and Liam gonna take of them like their own flesh, I trust them. B-But no one can take someone's father's place. Can you? If that's not a bother?", Harry whispered to Zayn. His eyes pleading Zayn to say yes. But all he saw was his Hazel eyes becoming teary.

"You-you gonna live, Okay? And no, they not gonna live with anyone b-but us, their daddies. We both gonna raise them together. We gonna play with them. You'll teach them cooking and I'll teach them drawing. Hell, all four of us will watch your favourite 'F.R.I.E.N.D.S' after dinner. So no, you're n-not gonna go anywhere. You're listening Malik? YOU. WILL. NOT. LEAVE. ME. " Zayn paused for a second and whispered "again"

Harry could see how hard Zayn was trying to hold back his tears but when a disobedient tear trickled down his cheek finally, he brought his hand up and wiped it away.

Zayn held that hand of his and kissed his knuckles while his tears making them wet.

"Promise me, you'll try your best. You'll fight. For our babies, for us.", Zayn whispered against his hands. Harry nodded and was about to say something when the doctors came and said it was time for his C-section.

Zayn held his hand tightly while the doctors gave Harry anaesthesia, making him drift into semi-unconsciousness. Zayn placed a kiss onto his forehead, making Harry smile lazily and the doctor's began the C-section delivery.

After sometimes, Harry felt a light tug and all he heard afterwards was a baby's faint cry. He smiled knowing his one baby is now out in the world but he soon felt himself drifting more into sleep. He felt some warm droplets on his cheeks and Zayn's faint saying "I love you so much." He thought, he might have heard it wrong, 'cause Zayn couldn't love him. Yeah, he might have asked his forgiveness for all the bad things he had done to him in the past but that didn't mean he love him.

The doctor  asked Zayn if he wanted to cut the chords,he nodded and wiped away the happy tears that fell when he first heard his baby boy crying. He came towards the doctor and cut the chord. He went to take him in his arms but the doctor gave the baby to a nurse, saying they needed to clean him and check him first. He nodded but soon his eyes went wide when he heard another baby crying. He turned around and saw another doctor was holding his another baby, saying "It's a girl."

Zayn smiled through the tears and again cut the chords as the doctors said. They took her back as they did to her brother making Zayn frown a bit. He then smiled turned around, ready to walk back to Harry and saying how much he loved him, again.

Yes, he had realized he loved Harry. He had been asking himself for the past months why he was feeling incomplete without Harry. But once he heard his Son's cry, he knew why he was feeling that way. He loved him and he wouldn't let him go again.

He walked back to Harry. Smiling, he leaned down to press a kiss on his lips but frowned when he didn't felt Harry's breath on his lips.

He turned to the doctors who were already in rush to do God knew what. He didn't understand a thing. But his world came to a stop when he heard the doctor saying,

"Hurry up, the patient is losing blood."

The last thing Zayn saw was, the line of  Harry's heartbeat on the monitor becoming flat with every passing second and then all he saw was black.
