joji woke up extra early today, he has the perfect place he wants to take amara, his favorite thinking place.
the phone buzzed and rang loudly next to amara's ear causing her to lazily pick it up, half asleep.
"hello?" amara answered quietly.
"good morning, sunshine. are you ready?" joji's deep morning voice echoed through the phone.
"for what?" amara whined.
"be ready in fifteen minutes." joji spoke, hanging up quickly, not giving her a choice to back out.

amara grunted, adjusting herself in the large seat next to joji.
joji chuckled at amara's behavior considering she is most definitely not a morning person.
"where are we even going?" amara questioned, watching the dark road signs pass.
"we're almost there, be patient." joji let out a soft laugh.
a few minutes later they pulled up to what looked like just a large hill.
still silent, joji guided amara up the somewhat steep hill, sitting at the edge of the top, letting their feet dangle freely over the edge.
"why are we here?" amara questioned, observing joji observing his surroundings of trees and the dim city lights.
his attention immediately turned to amara, gently turning her head to the sky that was now lighting up different shades of orange and red.
"you remembered." she mumbled to herself, mesmerized by the view.
amara scooted closer to joji, leaning her head on his shoulder.
the two sat and enjoyed the view and the warmth of each other.
"how did you find this place?" amara questioned.
"i found it when i would wander off as a kid, now i just come here to think and shit, sentimental value now y'know." joji replied, fiddling with his long fingers.
"is this where you take all your hoes?" amara asked, stifling a laugh.
"you're the only person i've ever brought here." joji shrugged.
"oh." amara replied softly, her heart melting at his words.
"we should go get breakfast." joji suggested, standing up, and brushing the dirt off as amara followed the same actions.
"pancakes sound amazing." amara agreed, walking back down the lengthy hill.
"remember when i was in the hospital and you held my hand?" amara spoke up after many moments of comfortable silence.
joji simply nodded in response.
"you should do that more often." amara finished, getting in the car.
joji was taken by surprise considering he's been wanting to do things such as hold amara's hand for the past seven years, if he had to make a list of five things he wanted to do that would definitely be one of them.
joji slowly reached over to amara's hand that was resting on her lap, intertwining his fingers with hers.
amara's eyes immediately went from the window to her hand now attached to her best friends, causing a smile to tug at the corners of her mouth.
joji drove with one hand on the wheel and the other one occupied with amara's.
