I watched her for a moment, unsure of her meaning. "I know we just meet and all but I can't stand to see people live like that. Can't you stay here?" She whispered, her voice soft and pleading. I shook my head, taken back by this small woman, her strength in the face of something so foreign and strange.
"This isn't the life I could live. A big house, safety, peace...It's all a lie girl, there is no peace there is only passion and chaos, and safety is only ever temporary without someone to keep the danger at bay. But I'm not one to do the protecting. I'm the danger Melissa, and I'm not letting a stranger risk a nice life over me. Keep Sarah here for a while though...I'll be back in a few days." With that I turned and headed for the door. I needed to think, I needed to get away. By the time I looked up I saw I was already on the street again, heading towards the bar. A quick drink, perfect, exactly what I need right now.
As I walked down the dark streets alone, the humidity clinging to me like a wet rag my mind was a buzz with thoughts...I hated this feeling...by the time I pushed my way from the club floor to the bar I was determined to drink myself into a sweet oblivion....A drunken oblivion...the only time my mind wasn't plagued by dreams and nightmares. Rachel wasn't at the bar, I can only hope that she got home and isn't passed out in an alley somewhere. As I sat down at my usual spot a new kid appeared with a bottle of vodka and two shot glasses. As he pour into the glasses I tried to slowly sneak my hand into my pocket...I had never seen this kid before...which means he wasn't LoCo. As I pulled my phone out I dialed the number to the bar.
"Yea Boss?" A muffled voice spoke from the other end of the line.
"Got a snake in my lake" I answered
"On it"
With that the call ended, and I watched as the security melted out from the crowd, weapons drawn and aimed. As I leaned over to the kid, taking the bottle from his hands I whispered in his ear. "Move and die."
As soon as I spoke the kid spun around and took off...only to smash into Markus, who nailed him in the cheek with a pair of brass knuckles. Kid dropped like a stone. I sighed as I stood up from the bar stool, taking a long swig from the bottle before dropping it on the kid. This was turning out to be a wonderful night.

By the time we cleared out the bar and tied the kid up it was well into midnight. I sat on a crate in front of him, the kid having his hands tied together behind a steel i beam that braced a wall in the basement, dumb bastard was still unconscious.
A car battery wired and ready. This damn nark was getting what was his. The pigs were always trying to weed out our clubs and bars, hiring local kids not in the gang was their best way in. It was a nice distraction though on nights like tonight...alot of rage and alot of time meant the poor bastard would sing loud enough for the gods to hear.
As the kid regained consciousness I had Marco clamp the jumper cables onto his arms. As the metal teeth dug into his forearm, small trickles of blood seeped, converging into a small drip down his arm. I stood behind him, connectors in my hands. Clamping the red cable onto the battery I stood posed to send him to hell and back if this took to long.
"Who do you work for" Marco asked, standing tall and menacingly over him
"I dont work for anyone, I just want a drink" he growled, struggling against his restraints
I brushed the black connector over the battery, sending the poor nark in a spasm, his body jerking and finally going limp as I pulled the connector back, killing the current.
"Listen pal, my friend back there knows when your lying....and he doesnt like liars" Marco droned on.
"I..I" the kid coughed, his head still hanging limp "I just wanted a drink"
I let the connector clamp down onto battery, slowly counting to ten before pulling it off. His body jerked and he screamed as the battery pumped his body full of electrity.
"One last time you lying bastard" Marco growled, clearly pissed by now
"Feds" The kid sputter and coughed "Black SUV...two weeks again....three grand if I took you down"
Marco back handed him as he lost conciousness again.
"Dump the body, make it look like a mugging, make sure he cant talk to the feds anymore" I mumbled as I stood and walked towards the door.
As warm salty air hit me I felt the intense need for a cig. As I pulled my pack out of my back pocket I noticed a Melissa stand out on the beach, the waves lapping at her feet, her arms out, spinning around in the sand. I couldn't help but smile as I watched. Leaning againt the wall, slowly smoking away on the burning cig I had forgotten how old I was. I felt like I had lived a thousand years and just watching this innocent young woman enjoying life in such a simple way I remebered that I was only sixteen.......life is funny sometimes.
