You had helped them both through their ripper stages. It was the worst thing having to see them not having a care in the world about the crimes they committed. It broke your heart seeing them like it. Damon was the hardest to get back. He always fought against what you were saying even though he knew our were right. Stefan was just as hard. He felt like he had nothing to live for so you made him live for something. You. 

When you told Stefan you were leaving. You had caused too much drama between him and his friends that you decided it was for the best that you left. You couldn't bring out the words to say how sorry you were to him. You loved him with every bone in your body, you know what they say if you love them so much you have to let them go. You got into your car and drove away. Tears were uncontrollably falling down your face. That was the hardest decision you have ever had to make.

You had just come out of a two year relationship. The reason you came out of that relationship is because you had started to have feelings for Damon Salvatore.

He was in your house trying to explain that it wouldn't be a bad thing that you were together. You mentally agreed with every word he said but you didn't want it to look bad that you had only just come out of a relationship. But you gave in.
