Coma

Cisco Ramon was checking the STAR labs satellite signals, when he heard a huge gasp come from the Med room. Running in, he shouted "Dr. Wells!! Barry is awake!"

"Where am I?? Where is Caitlin!!?" Barry shouted, breathing very rapidly.

"Calm down, it's me, Cisco, let's get you out of this bed and then we can explain everything."

Half an hour passed, and Barry was sat in a chair in the cortex, wearing a STAR labs sweater and some old jeans. "So you are telling me that I have been in a coma for 7 months?? And Caitlin is still in a coma!? There has to be a way to help her, there has to...." He was cut off by Cisco giving him a reassuring speech on how everything will be okay. "There is something else you should know, we have run some tests on you, and the results are quite unexpected. Your heart rate is beating extremely fast for an average human, however you seem to be functioning no different to normal. "I'm sure I'm fine, I'm just worried about Caitlin."

"There is nothing to fear Mr Allen, Dr Snow is alive and well, just give her body some time to wake up"

Dr. Wells entered the cortex, with a smile on his face. "It is quite the pleasure to finally meat you Mr. Allen, after all the time you have spent here in a coma."

"Thank you Dr Wells, it means a lot that you kept me here, but right now I want to know for certain that Caitlin will be okay"

Barry didn't sleep that night. The thought that the love of his life may never wake up horrified him to such an extent that he could hardly move. If she was to never wake up, he would never have the amazing feeling of her head on his shoulder, them snuggled up next to each other. Caitlin was literally his world, and if he lost her then he would have nothing left to live for. Lying there, staring at the ceiling, he had never felt more alone, even though he was always the only one in his apartment. There were so many things he wanted to tell her, so many opportunities they could have together in the future, so many memories they could share. The particle accelerator took away one moment from them, and if it took her away all together Barry would be torn apart.

For the following few days, Barry spent all of his spare time sat next to Caitlin, his hand on hers, tears in his eyes. Seeing her lying there was almost beautiful, until the realisation that she wasn't just asleep. Despite this she looked as perfect as ever, an angel in Barry's eyes.

This pattern continued for 2 months. Barry was sat there, and each time he sat in this chair, each day he came to be with her the more it hurt him to see her like this, the less hope he gained. But he wouldn't give up, not yet. As he sat there with her, flashes of memories popped up in his brain. He thought about the day he first met her, in that Chemistry lesson, and how they practically bonded like two atoms, a joke Cisco used to say to Barry when Caitlin wasn't around, as he knew how crazy Barry was about Caitlin. The way she spoke on that day, the way she looked, even the way she just moved was just perfect. At this point Barry was in tears again, gripping Caitlin's hand and squeezing it tightly.

"Dude, this really isn't good for you, its breaking you in half"

"I know Cisco, but that won't stop me. She has made my life a million times better and I am staying by her side until she wakes up"

"Well then you should at least eat something, have something to drink maybe"

Barry released his grip from Caitlin's hand, realising that his hand had gotten rather cold, but it was probably nothing. He picked up his coat and left STAR labs with Cisco, taking one last look at Caitlin for the night.

Barry was exhausted, he had gone over 48 hours without sleep due to his worry for Caitlin. He had to return to work tomorrow, so he decided to try and get some rest, which wasn't easy. He was sick with worry, and when he did fall asleep he only continued to dream about a world without Caitlin. He was woken the next morning by his phone violently ringing. He rolled over groaning, and checked his phone to see that it was a call from Cisco. He picked up to hear the following,

"Barry, you have to get here now, Caitlin might be waking up, her vitals have changed significantly"

He got out of bed faster than he could think about it, threw on some clothes and ran out of his apartment and headed for STAR labs.
