Riley

(Two Hours Previously)

Before I opened my eyes I could hear the low buzz of the lighting above me, I could feel the cold steel of the chair under me, the sting of ropes binding my hands and ankles. Slowly I opened my eyes, the bright light making my head hurt even worse than it did before. I struggled to recall what happened. The last thing I remembered was driving along the road towards the bridge when suddenly the truck began to slow down no matter how much I tried to accelerate it. That's when...

No, I'm losing my mind...

I swore that when I looked in my rear view mirror a huge man with dark curly hair was holding on to my truck, pulling it back. The truck shuddered to a stop and before I could even figure out what I was looking at, the most beautiful woman I had ever seen was standing next to my open truck door. She glanced at Ryland, saying his name with a gasp of relief.

I tried to speak but the woman grabbed me by the throat, choking off my air. I blacked out without a word.

As my eyes adjusted to the lights I realized that the couple I saw at my truck were standing in front of me, both their arms crossed.

"Fucking, finally." The woman groaned, flicking her long blonde hair off her bare shoulder. "I thought maybe I killed you. That would have sucked."

I blinked several times at her, trying to figure out what was happening. She walked closer to me bending down closer to me. "I guess I can kind of see it. The hair. I suppose for a human you're kind of cute. If my nephew is going to get any traits from you, the hair isn't a bad one."

For a human?

Her nephew?

"What" I wheezed, my vocal chords feeling like fire with a single word. "What happened, who are you? What are you doing to me?"

"A lot of questions you want answered." Behind the woman the guy laughed loudly. "Okay, I'll tell you..."

The woman frowned at him, "Don't say anything, Emmett. He doesn't deserve any kindness."

"But Rosie, it will be so much more fun this way!" he whined.

"Not until they get back. We need to leave him until she is here. If we talk to him I know I'm going to want to kill him and I know she is going to be super annoyed if she doesn't get to do the honors."

A door slammed shut, reverberating through the empty warehouse.

I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me as the door slammed shut, her heels clicking across the wood floor, her eyes on me. She looked different, taller, her hair perfectly curled. She wore a tiny strapless red dress, her skin as smooth as cream. Looking for the place on her neck where I had grabbed her, the gash on the side of her face, and the hole in her side where Jane had blasted through her with the gun. Bella Swan stood in front of me, completely unblemished.

"You were...but when I left." I stammered.

"Oh, you mean when your girlfriend shot me? When you stole my son?" She cooed. She gave me a piteous smirk.

"I don't understand how..."

She stepped closer to me.  As she stared down at meI realized her eyes were bright red. Fear crept through me and for the first time since I awoke I knew I was going to die.

"How I'm still alive?" she finished for me.

I nodded at her. "You weren't moving, how could you still be alive?"

"I'll let you in on a little secret. Maybe, your girlfriend is a lousy shot. "She leaned closer to me until her hair brushed against the side of my face, her lips close to my ear. "or maybe there's something more to me than you expected."
