Chapter 3: Unknown Secrets

I awoke more tired and cramped than before I had fallen asleep. A small bag lay beside me barely visible in the early morning light "This wasn't here before." the bag was a strange green velvet with a fancy pull string at the top that ended in glass beads. Gently I pulled open the bag careful not to drop whatever was inside. I peeked in to find a small glass bottle, the content was a strange blue almost like water except this strange liquid was far from clear. I carefully observed it, but only my reflection shown back. Desperate and thirsty I took out the topper but before I consumed the strange liquid I noticed that in the bag there was a small piece of paper, old parchment and on it written in old style lettering and ink was the words

Drink this in time of need, and see your true powers revealed

This made me nervous. I am sure it would have made anyone nervous. After a long while thinking about it I carefully put the piece of parchment in the velvet bag and unstopped the bottle. It had no taste but seemed smooth, cold and felt as though I was swallowing liquid metal. After a while sitting nervous, waiting for something to happen, I placed the empty bottle in the bag and placed the bag in my small dress pocket. Bored of waiting for something to happen I began to think of more ways to get out of the hole, soon my ideas began to become ridiculous, more like ways to amuse myself. "Maybe I will just transport like in those books...hehehe... no wait, I am going to turn into a lizard and climb up the side..." I was about to laugh at the idea but I began to shrink, horrified I screamed while getting closer and closer to the ground. Soon I was just above the ground with strange terrible green fingers were my hands were only moments before. In pure panic I closed my eyes thinking "Human. Human. Human..." I felt a strange sensation as though my body were stretching. It didn't hurt but I had never experienced anything like it before. Soon I sat upright, my old self again. My dress lay beside me as the only evidence that what had just happened was not in my mind. I clothed myself, still shaking from what had just happened. After what seemed like forever thinking over what had happened I decided that I would take the uncertain step of trying to change back into a lizard and climb up the side. I removed my dress and tossed it up to the ledge hoping that I would be able to get dressed as soon as got up there. Trying to calm myself down I once again closed my eyes "Lizard. Lizard." My stomach clenched as I felt myself somehow shrink. I opened my eyes taking slow breaths as I saw the strange alien like hands in front of me. I began to walk forward realizing that I probably should have transformed closer to wall. But after weaving my way through the twigs that now seemed bigger than trees I started to climb the side of the hole that now seemed miles high. I experienced a strange sensation as my hands seemed to stick to the walls. I was not near as fast as the lizards I had seen on the brick walls but slowly I began to get better as I inched up the wall. Soon I neared the blades of grass that marked the ledge. It was strange climbing over the edge, the grass barely bent as I walked across each blade. I decided to walk ... I mean crawl a ways away from the ledge to give my human body room for when I transformed back. "Human. Human... Human." Still too nervous to watch the transformation I once again closed my eyes as I began to feel the affects of the transformation. My bare skin felt strange against the grass as I grabbed for my dress. I put the dress on after checking for the velvet bag.
