I woke up to the sun hitting my eyes. Over 92 billion miles away and it still managed to have perfect aim. I groaned and rolled over in my bed, trying to escape the brightness. As I began to drift back to sleep, the memories of the night before started to flood through my mind. Moment by moment, I saw it unravel once again. A heated kiss, my shirt flying across the room, an overwhelming feeling of pleasure... Luke.
I sat up abruptly in my bed and looked around. I was alone in my room and the empty space on the bed next to me was cold. I frowned. A million thoughts raced through my mind as I climbed out of bed.
Where was he? Maybe he's out getting breakfast? Maybe he thought the entire night was a mistake...
I quietly opened my door and peeked out into the living room and kitchen. The absolute silence assured me no one was there. I shut my door and headed to my bathroom to brush my teeth and get ready for the day. All the while, questioning myself and the feelings I was having towards Luke. I began to convince myself that they were completely one-sided and he just wanted one thing. Sex.
I had to continually stop myself from crying as I realized more and more that I was used. All those sweet things he said to me were lies to sleep with me. I started to feel angry at myself.
What did I expect? A world famous rock star and he was going to settle for me? How could I be so delusional?
I mentally kicked myself over and over until I finally demanded that I forget about it and move on. I knew it wouldn't be that easy but I might as well start trying now.
I snatched my phone off of my nightstand and texted Carrie.
To Carrie:
Where are you? I need you. I made a huge mistake and I'm freaking out. My heart is breaking...
She texted back instantly.
From Carrie:
Aw, babe. I'm at the cafè. Come down and let's talk. x
I stifled another sob as I grabbed my purse and ran out the door. I was suddenly in desperate need of a hug from my best friend.
It was barely 8 o'clock in the morning so the city was still waking up, the sun still rising in the sky. The air was brisk and I hugged myself as I walked to the cafè, despite my parka.
I pushed through the door and it dinged loudly. I searched for Carrie and immediately saw her long blonde hair. She turned around in her seat and waved me over. I breathed a sigh of relief until I saw who she was sitting with. Michael was sitting beside her, smiling happily at me. Calum waved hello and Ashton followed suit. Then at the end of the table sat Luke. He gave me a slight, friendly nod with the lack of a friendly smile.
He was going to act like nothing had happened? Two can play at that game. I smiled back at all of them.
"Good morning, guys," I said cheerfully. Carrie looked up at me with a confused expression.
"Are you okay? You said you were freaking out and that your heart was breaking and that you made a mistake-"
"Okay Care! We get it," I said, cutting her off and desperately hoping that Luke hadn't heard. "I was just kidding. I was just wondering where you were this morning." Carrie shot me a look, knowing immediately that I was lying. I shot her another look back, saying that I'd explain later. She nodded so slightly that only I could notice.
I sat down between Calum and Michael, wanting to completely avoid and ignore Luke at the other end of the table.
"How was your night, Sky?" Calum asked before taking another bite of cereal. My heart began to race as the memories flooded through my mind again.
