Hey! For those of you who were confused with the last chapter, that was about how 7 year old Mia ended up in the orphanage. The rest of the story is about 13 year old Mia, in the same orphanage. Thanks for reading!

Late October, 2014

** Mia's POV**

Beep beep beep
I was woken by the sound of the alarm that has woken me for the past 4 years. I look to my right, to see the numbers 6:30 flashing at me. I hit it, as I sluggishly get out of bed. I do my usual morning routine, consisting of getting up, doing my hair, then putting my makeup on. Since the time was only 6:50, I went downstairs 19 minutes early to be the first down to breakfast. I get myself some toast, which I sliver some Nutella on and take it to my usual spot in the corner. As I eat, the other kids start coming down to get their food. The tables start to fill up, but no one sits next to me. I don't mind though, I haven't really made any friends in the 6 years that I've been here, so I'm used to it.

When I finish, I put my plate away and run upstairs to my room, where I brush my teeth and get dressed in my purple play suit and black converse. I then go back downstairs with my book, "Username:Evie' and outside into the garden bed. It's my favorite place here, I can just sit with myself and think about life. I open up to where I'm up to, and immediately get hooked again.

After reading for a while, I decide to go back up to my room to watch YouTube. Once I'm up, I take my shoes off, slump into bed and open the YouTube app. Straight away, I see Joe's new vlog. I press it, and end up watching random videos of Joe's for around an hour. I'm disrupted by the sound of Emma's voice yelling from downstairs. "House meeting in 5 minutes!! Be down here on time!!" I sigh as I put my phone back on charge and go downstairs.

"Ok, so I've called this house meeting because i need to tell you something. We are holding an open house tomorrow afternoon for couples and families looking to adopt!" The little kids start jumping with glee, while us older ones stay normal. In the open houses in the past, the younger kids have always been adopted, while the older ones are left here, just to stay in the orphanage for longer.
"So, I want everyone on their best behavior. I want you all clean and well presented, and you must answer politely when people ask you questions, Ok?" Emma said in an excited, yet stern voice. She always gets excited at these sorts of things, they don't happen often.

Then, the young ones go back outside while the older ones slump back into their rooms. I go up to my room as well, to finish the vlog I was watching. For some reason, I feel kind of excited. I have a good feeling about this open house. I feel like I might finally get a new family, and a new home.

So I'm thinking that I might just do fairly short chapters, which might mean 2 a day. By the way, I have no idea what an orphanage is like, so this might sound like crap😂 Anyway, thanks for reading!
