Before Avvix could fight back he was pummeled by fists and dragged away to a small seedy shipyard.
"Where are you taking me now?" Avvix asked sarcastically.
"Our employers." One of the thieves said.
"Wonderful." Avvix said.
Meanwhile, Mileas was scrambling to find a way to rescue Avvix. She knew they were taking him to a ship yard but she had no way to chase them if they entered a ship. She sneaked through the alleyway and into the ship yard, where she saw Avvix kneeling in front of men dressed in red.
"Recognize this Avvix?" a man in red said as he gestured to a small ship that was landed nearby. It was a Fighter class ship with a silver and gold paint job, its armaments were well polished and the wings looked razor sharp.
"That's..." Avvix started in complete disbelief.
"Your Angel?" The man asked again.
"Give me the keys and leave if you know what's good for you..." Avvix said.
The men promptly started to laugh.
"You are not in a position to make threats Avvix." another man in red said as he drew his gun and placed the barrel on Avvix's forehead.
"Such a shame to die, when you're so close to your prize." the man said.
Mileas could hear all of this, and a grand plan was formulating in her head to get off of this planet. She saw that the access latter to the ship was down and if she was quick enough she could get in the ship and cause a distraction big enough for Avvix to escape into the ship and they would leave off world.
She gathered her courage and made a break for the ship as stealthily as she could. She quickly clambered up the latter and into the small ship. It was quiet and very sleek, however she noticed that the engines were set to explode. With a few clicks on the key pad the engine systems reset.
"Farewell Avvix Nia, it's been less than enjoyable." the man in red said as he wrapped his finger around the trigger.
Suddenly the Angel's engines exploded to life and began to rise off the ground.
The man in red quickly holstered his gun and pressed a detonator on his wrist, once, twice, three times.
"What is going on!" he exclaimed.
"My dastardly escape!" Avvix yelled over the engines as he fell on his back, breaking the grip of the masked thieves. He then drew his gun and let off five shots as he sprinted to the ship. Several red dressed men screamed and fell to the ground before they could draw and fire.
Avvix found his way up the later and found Mileas in the pilot seat trying to initiate the take off sequence.
"I got this!" Avvix said as he sat down in a seat behind Mileas.
Suddenly the control panels rearranged themselves around Avvix and he took control. The ladder retracted, the ship sealed itself and blasted forward and upwards into the sky.
The surviving men in red watched as it blured away.
"Follow him, I want that ship melted down to slag!" The lead man said.
After about thirty seconds, five more ships were in the air and gave chase to Avvix and his angel.
"I can't believe I found you after all these years!" Avvix said as he maneuvered in between a few buildings.
"Who are you talking to?!" Mileas asked as she was being bounced around the ship.
"My Angel of course!" Avvix answered.
Suddenly their ship was rocked by a small explosion sending Mileas up towards the cockpit. Avvix quickly maneuvered his ship around a tight corner next to a skyscraper. The Angel's engines hummed calmly in spite of the astounding speed in which it was flying. After only a few seconds The Angel was flying at a normal angle allowing Mileas to finally regain her balance.
"Avvix?" Mileas asked
"Yes?"
"Is there anything you need me to do? I'd like to think that I'm contributing to our escape but I feel a bit useless right now."
Avvix turned and looked at Mileas.
"There should be a manual turret in the back underneath a hatch, if you would please strap in that would be awesome!" He instructed.
Mileas nodded and ran to the back of the ship. The hatch was slightly ajar but she saw nothing else that was out of order. She clambered down into a small compartment with a triangular window where she could see two barrels pointing and a holographic cross hairs in between them. She quickly sat down in the chair and strapped herself in. The turret controls flickered to life and two sets of joysticks ejected from in front of her.
"*kkshheerrt* hey mileas I could really use you on that gun right about now!" A faint voice said.
Mileas quickly picked up a head set and replied, "I'm here, whats the matter Avvix?"
"I'm sending you the targeting computer data, you'll see whats the matter." Avvix said.
The larger monitor in front of Mileas powered on and she saw two shapes come into view on the grainy 2-D rendition of the environment. She grabbed hold of the joysticks and aimed them to the back. From behind a building a huge Truefire Airbase Superbomber flew into view, it's twin auto cannons trained on The Angel.
"Avvix its an Airbase super B!" Mileas said in a panic.
"IT'S A WHAT!?" Avvix replied in utter disbelief.
"Can we escape?" Mileas asked nervously as she aimed the turret at the massive ship's cockpit.
"If we're lucky..." Avvix started, "Extremely lucky."
