Cowboy's P.O.V

I hopped on the jet with one destination, home. I looked back and smiled I was leaving this place so closely related to death itself. I would go home and be with my family, my two respectful sons and my beautiful daughter. Then there was beauty at its finest my amazing wife I can't wait to see her. Quickly I walk onto the jet put up my luggage, and take a seat. It will be a long flight so I lay back and for once I actually relax.

I get out of my seat and get my luggage from above me in the cupboard. As i walk down the stairs I see my lovely family running to me. First I bent down and grab my little girl and rocket her into the air as she screams with delight. Finally a put her back down and give all of my kids a kiss on the forehead and a big hug. I turn around to my wife we embrace and I wish I could stay in that moment forever it feels safe and secure, but I know it won't last but a few seconds.

It was great being back with my family, but sometimes I lay awake at night thinking, hoping that I wouldn't go out there again... Though I knew I would. I tried living a normal life like I did before, yet everywhere I went someone was there to remind. Sure they were saluting an showing respect which I appreciated greatly, but just couldn't help wishing I had never joined the military. I wasn't bothered by the people I killed, but the people that I couldn't save. I just wish... Wish that I could've saved that man that was with me on the raid. I just told myself there was nothing I could do and it almost worked if I repeated it enough.

The next day...

Suddenly as I'm cooking breakfast I here the TV going off and it wasn't my kids watching sponge bob. I was a national emergency broadcast alert, or NEBA. There was footage of a large city covered in smoke where you could see explosives and guns going off and hear men screaming drowned out by the sounds of weapons firing. I could here a voice over it all saying " this just in Rhode Island is under attack the Japanese army is invading citizens are advised to go to your nearest public bomb shelters or stay in your homes. The National Guard is already in action.

My wife was already by my side jaw dropped and otherwise expressionless. " daddy what's happening?" My daughter asked tugging on me. I dropped to my knee to meet her eyes " nothing sweety daddies just going away for a while again." I said heartily.

Just letting ya'll know this video is how I imagined this scene I know it's a tornado don't worry. I just wanted to give a good visual.
