Part 12: Come with me?

Karina's point of view~

After Ruben kisses me on the cheek a couple more times, he stops and starts having a conversation with Jose talking about a beach hangout or something like that.

I couldn't help but look over to where Hector is. What I saw shocked me. He was actually getting along with everyone. Is this a permanent thing? Hector sitting with us? I don't think I can handle that.

I was then snapped out of reality when Ruben whispered in my ear very seductively.

"Come with me?" It sounded more of a question then it did as a command. But nether the less I got up with Ruben holding my hand. Right when we were walking away, we heard Jose screaming, "Where are you guys going? Karina hasn't even met Hector yet!!"

Ruben sighed and then turned us both around to face the table again. "We know each other." When Hector said that my heart dropped. Why would he say that? Is he stupid? God help me!!!

I looked at Ruben and you can tell he was confused due to his lifted eyebrow.

"Yeah.......... Ruben where did you want to go?" I asked hoping to change the subject. After a couple of seconds Ruben said, "Oh yeah. Come on babe."

After I waved at everyone at the table, Ruben led me out of the cafeteria to a staircase. They looked old and rusty and kind of scary. As much as I didn't want to to go up them, Ruben dragged me up them. After what seemed like thousands of stairs, we stopped in front of a beige door with a metal handle. I just stared at it fearing of what was behind it. Ruben was examining my face which made me kind of insecure. I know I might be popular and tough, but I am actually very insecure.

After Ruben saw my scared face, he said "Don't worry babe, you have nothing to be scared of. I promise." He then kissed my forehead and I swear, all my fear went away. It was almost like Ruben was a hero. My hero.

I smiled at him and he smiled back. Not a smirk but an actual smile, something I don't see very often. He kept his eyes on my eyes as he turned the handle and opened the door. For a second, I went blind due to the very bright ray of sunlight shooting down on us. So I know we're outside but where?? I opened my eyes when I gained my vision back and what I saw was heaven. We were on top of the school!! On the freaking roof!!! There was a green couch near the middle of the little space that we had. There was flowers everywhere and a little rectangular coffee table in the middle by the couch. And the view? It was freaking BEAUTIFUL! I could see downtown from here and I can even see the mountains! It was just breathtaking.

"Like it?" I turned to see Ruben smiling while rubbing the back of his neck with one hand. He looked nervous but I personally thought it was hot.

"Are you seriously asking that?? I love it! How do you know that this was up here?"

"Well, I was very mad one day and I found this spot and then you know, I just kinda decorated to make it feel more cozy." He sounded so innocent.

"Oh" was all I could say.

"Ok, now that you've checked out the place, please take a seat my love." He pointed to the couch and I happily sat on it. He then sat next to me but he sat to where he was facing me. He looked really nervous, which got me really nervous.

"Umm, Karina I need to tell you something... but you got to promise me that you won't interrupt. Just listen please?" I nodded and he continued but not before he grabbed both of my hands.

"Ok. Well I don't know how to say this, and I'm kinda new to this... you know being in a relationship thing... Ugh I'm already messing this up." He face palmed hisself and I couldn't help but laugh at his action. I took his hand off his face and gave him a look that said continue. And he did.

"Ok. I really don't know how to say this but Ima just say it. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. And I really mean that. I mean everything I'm about to say. Ever since you came into my life, I've been more than happy. I can't stop thinking about you. Your smile, your laugh, the way your eyes sparkle when you see the waiter coming with your food. The way you sit crisscross when you're on the floor. The way you bite your lip when you focus. Just everything. And you're just perfect. Even if you don't believe that, you are... to me. I swear you always make my day and you just make me smile. I love everything about you..... I love YOU."
