Chapter 26 : We're Dead

++ Tori's POV ++

After I helped amber to her feet , I wrapped an arm around her waist to keep her from falling . I had offer to carry her again but I knew we wouldn't get far because I could barely carry my own weight without my knees wobbling . So I guess she's just going to have to limp around , that's our only option .

I took a sharp breath in as opened the basement door . I was expecting to be greeted by the beautiful sunlight but I wasn't ... The whole mansion was surrounded by nothing but trees that shielded any trace of light . We were literally in the middle of nowhere . It was like something off of a creepy horror film . I had no idea where to go , or which way would be safe enough .. All I wanted to do was get the fuck away from this mansion .

" Let's move as fast as we can . We don't have much time . " I told amber , trying to keep my voice as stern as possible . But , in all honesty .. I was scared . Scared of not getting amber to safety fast enough . I made her a promise and I intend on keeping it . With that finally thought ... We ran into the woods like the hunger games just had started . Amber cried out in pain , every time she put pressure on her broken foot . Thankfully , she ignored the pain and kept up with my fast pace . Branches smacked me in the face , and rocks dug into my bare feet .

As we ran deeper into the woods , it got darker and darker making it almost impossible for us to see , but we kept going . The wind blew in my face , and I immediately turned my face up in disgust . It smelt like something died out here , the smell was so unbearable I thought I was going to barf .

My heart beat increased rapidly , when I felt a rain drop fall onto my shoulder . No ! No ! It's already hard enough trying to move through these woods , considering how dark it is . So if it rains , it'll be more difficult for us to run through mud puddles without falling and snapping our necks .

" Did you feel that ? " Amber asked , breathing heavily . I should tell she wasn't used to this much running by the way she was sweating .

" You don't usually run this much do you ? " I questioned , ignoring her other question . I just wanted to lighten up the mood , I wanted to make her forget that we were currently running for our lives .

" How did you figure that one out ? " Sarcasm was laced in her voice , as she raised an amused eyebrow .

" Your sweating like a pig . " I forced out a breathless laugh . Not once did we stop running . We didn't want to take any chances of begin caught . Our conversation was cut short , when it started to rain . It wasn't like small rain drops , no ,it freaking started to pour . I started to run faster , but not at my full speed though , I know amber couldn't run that fast with a broken leg .

All of a sudden , my foot slipped from under me and I came crashing down . My face smacked against a rock in the most violent manner . I screamed in pain as my nose snapped to the right . Oh god .

" Tori , oh my god ! Are you okay ? " amber asked , trying to help me up .

I couldn't help the sob that escaped my lips , as I held my head back in order to stop the blood that was gushing out of my most likely broken nose . Amber looked behind me and her eyes widened as a looked of fear and panic washed over her features . I furrowed my eyebrows together and turned my head .

Marcus was running toward us , with a murderous look in his green eyes . Oh fuck . I ignored the gut wrenching pain that I was currently in and jumped to my feet . I grabbed amber and started running for my life . I ran as fast as could , pulling amber along with me .

" My leg ! " she cried out , trying to keep up with me the best way that she could .

" I'm sorry , I know it hurts but we have to keep moving . " I replied , picking up more speed .

" I can't , it hurts too badly . " she whimpered . I could see it in her eyes that she was trying her best to ignore the pain but she just couldn't . There was no way she could ignore that kind of extreme pain .

" Please don't give up ! Please just try to ignore the pain amber , please . " I pleaded , the desperation clear in my tone .

" TORI ! ! " Marcus shouted , from the distance . His voice was so loud , I jumped back and crashed into amber . She fell back onto the ground , whimpering in pain .

" Tori , you have to go . " she cried out , sniffling a little . My eyes immediately widened , as I took in her words .

" No ! I'm not leaving you . " I nearly yelled .

" I can't get up ! It hurts too bad . " She sobbed out , hiccuping every 2 seconds .

" You have to get up ! " I urged her , growing more and more angry for her even suggesting that stupid idea . I would never leave her behind . Not today , not ever .

" GO ! Your not getting caught because of me . " she screamed , I could tell she was livid .

" No . " I said threw greeted teeth . She was about to protest , but I grabbed her arm and started dragging her . It was a very idiotic idea but that was my only option . I knew we didn't have a single fucking chance of making it out alive , now .

We're dead .

😖 This was a lot to freaking write , my fingers hurt . LOL Anyway , I will update on Monday or possibly Sunday 💚 . I love you guys !
