Indigo sighed. He'd never expected that any of this would happen. But.. It was exciting. Something about the fact that he was nonchalantly walking back into a stranger's car after escaping prison. At this point though, Gibson was no longer a stranger. He was.. A colleague. As the two began to drive, Indigo turned to face him. "Uh- Gibson, are we friends?"
There was a pause. A long, uncomfortable, quiet pause.
Gibson sat at the wheel, thinking.
"..I guess I never thought about it, Indigo."
Indigo shifted in his seat uncomfortably. "..."
"I mean, I haven't really known you long enough to know. Sure, we've- Done a lot these past few days, but- can you give me some time to think about this?"
Indigo nodded. "Oh- Oh sure..!"
He sunk back in his seat, in woe. They drove on until Gibson got a ringing in the glove compartment. "Oh- Open that!" Indigo nodded and opened the glove box to find some sort of machine heavily covered in wires. After some untangling he looked at it, only to find a timer. Was it a clock?
Gibson pressed the side of it and it flashed extremely bright. He gasped. "Shit.." Indigo looked up. "What!?" Gibson tried to pay attention to driving but could barely take his eyes off. "Earth.. We haven't much time left anymore Indigo. Forget it, we can't reach the ship in time. We need to go somewhere else to get off."
Indigo's eyes widened, remembering that he'd have to go to space to leave Earth. "W- Where?"
"Your local space station of course!"
Indigo gasped. "What?! You can't just- Go there! They'll kill us!"
Gibson smiled. "We got out of prison, didn't we? I don't think it'll be that hard."Indigo sighed and lay there in his seat.
"..How much time do we have?"
Gibson shrugged and kept driving. "I'd assume.. I don't know. I don't want to let you down or anything, it's not looking hopeful. I sit here trying to be all happy go lucky because it gives us hope, a reason. But- We're not gonna quit, that's stupid."Indigo nodded. "Right.. I understand. Ok.."
Gibson stopped for a second and found directions to a space station, and drove on. Indigo thought this wasn't the best idea, but what else was there to really do anymore. He didn't want to die but at this point it seemed mandatory.
Over an hour later, they had finally reached the town where it was located. Gibson turned.
"Right, we have to blend in. It obviously won't be easy to get past any borders, so let's just spend some time doing the usual. Maybe eat some food, sightsee.. We do have some time."
Indigo nodded weirdly. "Uh.. Ok?"
Gibson laughed. "..I also just need some time to devise a plan. We can discuss it together, too. Anything that can get us in. Alright?"
Indigo nodded again. "Oh, I see. Ok!"The two parked at a diner and Gibson took his seatbelt off and grabbed the duffel bag from the back. He rummaged through it and put some clothes on. Ripped shorts, a T-shirt and an old baseball cap. He sighed for a moment before putting on the baseball cap. "Let's go in." Indigo followed him in, holding back laughter. He looked like a child!
The waitress looked down at Gibson. "Well hello, little guy!" Gibson glared and mumbled something inaudible. She looked back up at Indigo. "Table for two?" He nodded. "Oh- um- Yeah! Come on, uh- little brother!" Gibson looked up in horror but followed him. The two sat down as she poured a glass of water for each of them and left them to choose what to order. Gibson looked back at Indigo in shock. "Little brother..?" Indigo sighed stressfully. "I just- I needed a way to make her take us, ok?" Gibson nodded slowly. "O- Oh.. I see." He flipped up his menu. "The hell is all of this? Eggs Benedict? What even IS that? An egg is a food! Benedict is a dead name! Put the two together!?" Indigo shushed him. "Don't yell! If you don't know what it is I can tell you, and Eggs Benedict is really good!"
Gibson sighed. "Then what the fuck is it?" He whispered.
Indigo shielded everyone's field of view with a menu. "It's like- Bread and ham and eggs or something! You shove it in your face! Like food!"
Gibson pushed him away. "Yeah, yeah yeah. I'll just get something else. Oh- Pancakes! Fuck yeah!" Indigo laughed. "Then get pancakes." The two waited for a while, ordered, and began to wait. Gibson grabbed a table mat and a pen. "Ok, so- They'll be a lot of guards, though I do not assume they will be heavily armed. The fact that they'll be a lot could be unsafe, so air ducts could be a good way to travel. It might be hard to start a ship though, we don't have keys and it could be difficult to get the roof open and I don't have a lot of time to fix any of it-" Indigo sighed. "It sounds like we don't even have a chance.." Gibson gasped. "Wait, look!" He pointed at a poster on a bulletin board. "Wait.. There's a ship taking off tomorrow and everyone's gonna watch! Talk about LUCK!" Gibson smiled. "This is perfect!"
The waitress set down Gibson's plate of pancakes. "Here you go little guy!" Gibson glared. "Your world will BURN!" Indigo laughed nervously. "Ha- I- Ignore him please.." She nodded and backed away.
