The two walked around through town, killing time. After several hours, the two grew tired and weary. They began to walk back to the car, though they were quite surprised at how nice this town was. Sure, it wasn't the biggest or happiest town, but that's what made it special. Just some small town with a space station. The more they walked though, the more cars drove past.. It appeared to get busier with every minute. This space station event must have been really important.. Or at least just popular. It didn't seem extraordinary that yet ANOTHER spaceship had taken off when Gibson had explained that there were billions throughout the quad-range multiverse.

In the past few hours, Gibson had explained a lot. For one, the system that Earth was connected to was currently being shut down by a corporate alliance under the name S.A.F.E. only some couple million lightshocks away in the second domain of the translucent multiplex system of WWA-2. He didn't know what most of it meant, but he knew what it meant long term. It would be soon that Earth would be nothing. You know when someone says that a star you are looking at has actually died millions of years ago? Earth would soon be just that. Earth would be nothing.

And so would they.

The two crawled back into the car. "Well that was- fun.." Indigo nodded. "I guess..  I'm tired." Gibson began to take the bags from the back seat and moved them to the trunk. He pulled a blanket out of the trunk, shut it, and crawled into the back seat. Indigo followed suit and helped him scoot the seats farther forwards, as to make space. Indigo watched as Gibson got comfortable and laid down in the back, with a spare blanket for him. "Wait- So where should I sleep, Gibson?" Gibson looked up to face him. "Oh- We'll try to keep sides or just- Keep some space, ok?" Indigo nodded slowly. Gibson sighed. "Actually- Just sleep where you want, ok?" Indigo nodded again and laid down on the other side of the car, as to not touch Gibson. It was uncomfortable and cold, but he could manage. No problem. He tossed and turned back and forth, struggling to get some sleep. Gibson sounded like he was sleeping just fine.. But how? This seemed a lot harder to than how Gibson handled it. But just thinking about this, and paying mind to this.. He begun to fa- fall..

Asleep..

Indigo woke up hours later. It was beginning to get sunny out, the sky looked nice, and he was holding G-
He was holding Gibson.
Indigo held back screams as he realized he was holding Gibson tightly like a child. Sure, it didn't really feel- Wrong.. But the fact that it was Gibson made him feel otherwise. How was he going to fix this? He could really quickly move and wake Gibson up in the process, or try to very slowly move Gibson away without waking him.. But he seemed so peaceful.. Why disturb him? But- This was incredibly awkward. Awkward to the point where Indigo wouldn't be surprised if Gibson decided not to try and the two of them left the world in a fiery blaze.
It was just too awkward.
He slowly shoved Gibson off until it was easy to shimmy out and just sat next to him in the car. He could wait until Gibson woke up, and even maybe try to get a few more hours of sleep. Hey, the sun had barely begun to rise and the beautiful orange sky told him it would stay that way for a while.

He soon fell back asleep, trying to forget the horrifying events he'd just took part in.

Soon it was noon and Gibson woke up. He nudged Indigo, who was on the other side of the back seat. He had slept well, good dream and all. He couldn't shake off the feeling that he had been hugging his family all night long.

The two of them ate at the diner again, and headed towards the giant event taking place several blocks away. They had to stay close, as searching through the crowd for one another was nearly impossible, even for them. At some points the crowd was so dense that the two of them had to rely on holding hands and/or hair. Painful, awkward success. The two finally reached the area where people would view the ship taking off and realized how far away it was from the actual ship. This would be a problem.
Gibson gasped. "SHIT!" Indigo looked at him weirdly. It wasn't that everyone could hear it, as it was much too loud for anyone to hear except him. "What is it, Gibson?" Gibson face-palmed. "We left everything in the car, let's go already! Back to the car!" Gibson began to run back, and Indigo couldn't keep up. As soon as he realized he had to speed up, it was too late. He was disoriented and confused, and most of all- terrified. Wasn't the world supposed to END today? And WHEN? Was he gonna DIE?! Indigo tried his best to push through the crowd and reach Gibson, even if he was practically lightyears away because of this vile crowd. They didn't even know they'd all die today.

Fools.

Gibson hopped into the car. He looked around. "Shit, where's Indigo?! He should be here by now.." He sighed. "I should have stayed close by.." Gibson pulled the machine out of the glove box. "OH SHIT! I don't even think they'll be enough time for the ship to go- or for us to escape!" He rolled down the window. "INDIGO, WHERE ARE YOU!?"

Indigo huffed. Everyone was always in his way. If only they knew.

Gibson looked at it closely. "Maybe it's broken.." He begun to repair the machine. Once done, he gasped. He was right! But not for the right reason.

A minute.

Twenty six seconds.

Twenty five.

Twenty four.

Twenty three.

Twenty two.

What the hell was doing!? INDIGO WAS GONNA DIE!
He dug around the glove box for it.. Where was it!? It was only meant to be used once, and this was going to be its one time.
He found it and looked back at the machine.

Gibson jumped out of the car, didn't close the door, and began bolting towards the crowd making as big of a commotion as possible. "INDIGOOOOOOOOOOO! WHERE THE FLYING FUCK ARE YOU!??! BUDDY!" People began stepping out of the way for him. He was doing it, he was-
Gibson tripped and slammed into the ground, the concrete and defeat giving him immense pain. "N- No.." He glanced over at the machine.

"I- I'm sorry.."

"Gibson?!"
Gibson looked up and saw Indigo. He was shocked and grabbed him tightly, the world around them erupted with loud crackles and the sky went orange. But then, Gibson pressed it.

And it all froze.
