After driving for what seemed like multiple eternities and Indigo had fallen back asleep, Gibson turned off-road and parked at a gas station. He put his hand on Indigo's shoulder. "Hey." Indigo didn't budge. "Wake up."
Nothing.
Gibson sighed and was about to yell to wake him up, but stopped. It'd been a long night, and soon the sun would rise. He sat back and relaxed, ready at any time for Indigo to wake up.
He watched Indigo sleep, it was- Awkwardly cute to say the least. Just some little boy sleeping in the back of a taxi cab in between a bunch of luggage. Gibson almost wanted to take a picture of it.
Soon enough, Indigo woke up. "Mmmmph.. Are we there yet?"
Gibson shook his head. "No, I've been waiting for you to get up. I must ask you a favor."
Indigo rubbed his eyes, looking at the off-put sunrise out his window. "Oh.. Well what is it? I just don't want to kill anyone, y'know?"

Gibson nodded. "I just want you to get some stuff for the road at this gas station. Don't worry, I've got the money covered. I just want you to get stuff you'd bring on a road trip, it could be a while."
"A road trip?" Indigo thought long and hard. "..Well I've never been on a road trip, but I'll get some stuff."
Gibson handed Indigo twenty dollars and some change. "Don't forget soda, since you threw out that la- Nevermind, you go ahead."

Indigo walked into the store, looking like he just got out of bed. That's because he actually just DID get out of bed. Well not really, because he had actually just gotten out of a car but- The visual stood out well. He looked quite suspicious in the middle of.. Wherever they were. People eyed him in every aisle of the store, like he was some sort of weirdo. He didn't know if it was how he looked, or acted, or if the people here were just really bias against teenagers. It wouldn't be out of the ordinary; the people in his town were always worried that youth were doing something wrong, like they came out the womb as criminals armed with pocket knife in hand. Sure, he wasn't some goody two-shoes, but he wasn't some badass who'd turn down gummy worms at a gas station.

After getting everything, he set it down at the counter. The worker eyed him head to toe. "I'm gonna need you to stay right there while I pat you down, we really don't like shoplifters here." Indigo groaned. Yes, this was one of those towns. 'We're all one family!' They'd say at shitty block parties with carpeting on the roads so nobody would get hurt.
Fools.

After they pat him down and found nothing, they returned to the counter. "Well- Guess I was wrong." They started scanning items, and when it was over Indigo saw the register: $22.68. He handed them the twenty and the change, and they begun counting it out. "Kid, you're about a dollar short. You're going to need to put something back." Indigo was about to reach in and take out a soda, but he stopped. They'd forced him to go through a pat-down as if he was about to board an airplane. Instead, he picked up the bag and looked them right in the eyes.
"Piss off."

He returned to the car, knocking on the glass. Gibson unlocked the door and before Indigo could get in, he saw Gibson laughing. "I saw what you did in there man," He could barely talk from laughing. "I'm proud of you."
Indigo was shocked. "Oh- Um- Thanks..?" He was about to open the door before Gibson locked it. "No, no no. You're gonna sit in the front with me." Again, Indigo was even more shocked. "Uh- Thanks, Gibson." He handed Gibson the bag and he set it in the back, where Indigo was previously sitting.

The car engine started, but then was turned off. Indigo hoped they weren't out of gas, he'd do anything to not have a run-in with that cashier..
Gibson reached in the back and pulled out two sodas. "Wait, let's take a breather and watch the sun rise, eh?"
Indigo nodded and, for the first time in a while, smiled. "Okay, sure."
The two sat and drank for around fifteen minutes, and watched as the sky turned orange. It was beautiful, a sight Indigo had rarely seen. He was never up this early, and the buildings in his town blocked it. Here, in the countryside, everything was so much more visible.

The car engine started and Gibson pulled out of the parking lot. "Now, Indigo." Indigo looked over. "Hm?"
"Next stop, hopefully at least- Sector Three in the Anix dimension."

"I don't know what any of that means, but ok!"
