Failed attempt to settling down

It had been weeks since that day in the apartment. I hadn't heard from Harry since then and I didn't want to push him in the matters, as much as I loved and missed him.

The paparazzi wasn't nice to us the next few days. He attended the Sentebale polo match alone and it must've been hell. I had seen a video from the red carpet and the only thing I could hear were the papparazzi's shouts asking where I was. Harry's face didn't give a kick though. He stayed as unemotional as he always was at these public events.

I had started work at Kingsley and Brown and was enjoying it greatly. I had gotten to know most of my colleagues by now and even though they brought up Harry every once in a while they didn't seem to care so much. I did have to take the back entrance every day since the paparazzi had been waiting for me since day one of working here. I didn't know how they found out where I worked but I couldn't step outside anymore without getting mobbed. There had been several posts in the daily news with pictures of me in joggings and titles such as "Rosalie let's herself go" and "Rosalie off princess duties" which I had been happy to ignore.

Laura, my personal assistant was my favourite though. Every morning my coffee would be waiting in my office and she was ready to get the day going. She helped me with cases since I didn't know any of the clients yet and made sure every appointment was scheduled out perfectly. When I had asked her to join me for lunch on my first day she was hesitant in the beginning but now, 3 weeks later she simply walked into my office at 12 and we ate lunch together. She chatted happily away about her 4 month old baby girl, Rani, and her boyfriend Jack to which I simply nodded and made the odd comment.

I had told her about my mum and dad. And about law school. Then one day she finally decided to bring it up. Him.

"So. How did this Harry thing actually happen?" She said casually, toying around with her spoon in her bowl of soup.

I simply shrugged "It just did. It all happened so fast. I miss him though."

"Of course you do. He was your boyfriend for 5 months. That doesn't go away easily. Especially not when it was so special."

I gave a little shrug and went back to eating. I was not ready to talk about him just yet. I trusted Laura, but you never know what goes back to the paparazzi.

In the late afternoon my phone rang. The screen said it was Laura.

"Yes?"

"A flower arrangement has arrived for you at reception. Do you want me to go and get it and bring it to you?"

I was stunned. "Uhm, yeah sure." I put the phone down as tears welled up in my eyes. This was it. This was him breaking up with me. Sending me an arrangement of flowers, letting me down softly. Because that was the type of man he was. He wasn't the type to not let anything know. He had to end it officially.

Laura walked in carrying an arrangement of colourful roses in the most stunning vase. He knew my soft spot were flowers.

I quickly thanked Laura as she placed them on my desk. I sat down just looking at them, at the note that was poking out from the side. I don't know how long I sat there. 1 minute? 5? Maybe even 10. I couldn't wrap my head around this. My mind was going in overdrive.

I stood up and plucked the note from between the flowers, opening the little envelope.

"I'm ready. I want you. Call me, please. X H."

His signature H.

Until I had seen it just a few moments ago I hadn't realised how much I had actually missed it and him.

I had to sit down since my legs were going numb. It felt like I was about to faint. It was too much. Ever since Harry had walked out of the apartment I had regretted it. It wasn't until that very moment i realised how much I loved him. And missed him.

I quickly got up again, I grabbed my coat and bag and made my way out the door. Never letting go of the card.

Laura quickly got up when she saw me coming out of the office.

"Are you okay?" She asked, her face tense.

"I..." I was confused. "I need the rest of the day off. And tomorrow. Give the Richards case to Steven to handle. I'll be back on Thursday." I put my hand on her arm. "I'm sorry."

She simply just nodded, a little smile playing on her lips. "I understand. GO!"

I gave her a grateful smile and had to restrain myself from running out of the office. As I took the elevator to the ground floor I started looking for my phone in my purse. I walked out of the building and hailed a cab.

As soon as I was save in there I pushed the button.

It rang once.

Twice.

When he answered the phone I sucked in my breath and didn't know what to say.

His responded quickly. Like he had been waiting for days for me to call.

"Yes?"

And in that moment I knew this was the man I wanted. He had stolen my heart, my soul and I didn't give a damn. He could take it all, if only I could be with him forever. Forever.
